Takkarist McKinley was just waived by the Falcons:

Should the Jets grab him? He supposedly complained on social media and wanted to be traded so this probably negates any interest Douglas has in him, but still, they could get him cheap for no other compensation and try him out for the next 7 games and see if he works out. He does fit a position of great need for them.

I say yes, sign him. What do you say?

How do you figure no compensation? If he's picked up on waivers don't we have to fulfill his current contract?

He means no trade compensation. I say don’t bother. If the Falcons drop and Edge player he must suck horribly, it’s their most desperate position

    Yes, that's what I meant.

You're probably right too about him not being of much help. OTOH, maybe it's just a case of the Falcons couldn't get him to produce for them - wrong scheme fit or maybe he didn't get along with the CS - and a change of scenery works for him. I admit it's a longshot but as I said, what's to lose?

Anything the Jets do should be for the future and McKinley would be a UFA anyway. No one will claim him and he probably will be available for a practice squad spot to be honest. Rather have him for a few thousand on the PS that’s claim him for the ~$1mm or so left on his salary.

Just my opinion but I’d say practice squad or no thanks

Any change of scenery that adds Adam Gase to the picture cannot help.

I say why the hell not? He’s not good enough right now to impact any unnecessary wins but talented enough that he COULD be part of the future.

He wasn't released because a lack of production or talent. He was released because he's a douche that aired his grievances publicly. According to him the Falcons had trade offers in back to back years for him.

I'd take a flyer on him. However the front office would obviously need to feel him out first. If he was pissed off and wanted to be traded from a bad team, why would he want to come here?

It'd be nice to get a reclamation project that actually works out. I'd bet he ends up on the Seahawks.

He is not a bad player would arguably the best end pass rusher we had here in awhile. But he underperformed in Atlanta according to friends that watch them and ran his mouth on twitter about not wanting to be on the falcons so they granted his wish. I am meh either way

His running his mouth on social media probably will cause Douglas to have no interest after what happened with Adams. If Douglas speaks with him and he promises to keep his yap shut here, then I'd have no problems with Douglas giving him a try.

    I would say it’s a douche/lack of production combo

    2017 pick, 13 sacks combined year 1+2, 4.5 combined 3+4.

Nothing in any other stats that says he was particularly productive just missing sack numbers or anything like that.
