As I was going through the past threads, I was annoyed by deluded fools who kept contending that Herm would have led the Jets to a respectable record of 8-6 or better this year, thanks to healthy Chad.

Thus I came up with this. While it is not uncommon to see a QB go out of season, something had to give in Herm's case. I do know season-ending injury is not uncommon, and is happening everywhere in the league, but get this:

    QBs Herm killed:

    Testaverde x1
Chad Pennington x3 (Including the wrist injury)
    Jay Fiedler x1
    Trent Green x1

Herm's been coaching in this league for about 6 years by now, and he killed his starting QB just about every season. Now, my question is, how can ANYBODY be so sure that Herm's Jets this season would have recorded such an improvement with healthy Chad, when it is more than apparent that Herm is not the kind of coach to instill discipline to his team, much less protection for his QB. Also you should note that most of the injuries above were done early in the season, with the exception of Chad's first shoulder injury. On top of that, with exception of Jay Fiedler, all the QBs that Herm killed are starters. He wouldn't have done jack squat this season had he been to return to Jets as HC.

All right - call it what you want; luck or whatever. The fact stands as it is, and it is saying Mangini hasn't killed Chad as of yet, this deep into the season. Ok. I'll eat my crows when Mangini has killed his starting QBs as much as Herm did. So far, he hasn't killed any.

One of the reasons I think Herm kills his QBs with such ease is his neglect of the offensive line. While he was with the Jets our Oline literally aged away. Mangini starts building a team in the trenches giving his QB a chance to survive.

Vinny T was almost 40when he got hurt. 35 year old Feidler went down because of a makeshift offensive line. Trent Green went down because of a cheap shot after he decided to scramble.

Chads wrist injury could have happened to anyone. If anything -- it's his fault for trying to break his fall. Chads first shoulder injury came on a play where he ran for about 10 yards in Buffalo.

I don't uderstand how you can attribute all of the hurt QB's to Herms coaching. Especially when it can be said that Pennington is an injury prone QB.

The only injury he should take ANY blame for is chad's second shoulder injury. He was def rushed back onto the field before he should have been.

Not that I believe in little black clouds of bad luck, but I could swear it is following Herm. I mean, our QB's have been healthy all year (*knock on wood*).

Meanwhile, Herm's QB disasters continue to happen. Coincidence is a bitch.
