The real problem is that we’re saying the same thing for the 3rd year in a row.

The organization is a disaster at the very top. Jury is still out on Douglas (in my opinion), but I expect Gase to be run out of town by the end of the season. He won’t win a power struggle with Douglas, and I’d hope that Douglas will be smart enough to cut his losses with Gase if the team tanks again this season.

I’m well aware that Douglas doesn’t have the authority to fire Gase, but only one of the two has a long term contract on the books, and Douglas would have to put himself in the line of fire to retain Gase after a disastrous campaign.

Tannehill is the Gase based comparison, and yea, Tannehill put up better numbers, even in his 13 game season I think.

On one hand its disappointing that Darnold has worse numbers, but the upside is that once Tannehill escaped Gase and got a shot, he had the best season of his career.

My worst fear is the same scenario playing out with Darnold, only he goes on to have a great career for 20 years and demolishes us every time he plays us.

Maccagnan neglected the OL and did a poor job in the 2017 draft that could've yielded multiple building blocks by the end of day 2. Because of that, Douglas had to address the OL early and often last offseason and had to pass on 2 great WR prospects in the draft.

Some people get frustrated by the table banging for OL, but that table banging occurred because of the neglect.

It wasn’t just neglect, though. It was also the terrible quality of the players that were selected.

Name the areas of the team that are set for the foreseeable future.

Not a very long list, is it? You can’t fail at drafting for as long as the Jets have and build a winner, let alone a consistent one.

I understand why Douglas wants more picks. He needs to make up for some lost time. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some number 1’s turn into multiple 2’s and 3’s so he can try to get caught up on the lack of home grown talent. That, and I’m sure the draft capital will make us a more attractive landing spot for HC candidates.

I doubt many people wanted to lose players like Anderson and Adams, but at the very least, Douglases willingness to let them go leads me to believe that he actually has a long term plan in place as opposed to going for the traditional quick fix.

It’s game one. He looked shitty v a top 10 defense, with no WRs and no preseason.

was pressured the entire game. Never got a clean look downfield. The int was bad, I will grant you that.

    crowder is just decent.

the rest who played yesterday. Horrible.

did anyone really expect a good game without some talent to get open and catch the ball.

QBs can look terrible without support/talent/coaching....too early to pull plug on his career. He obviously
is trying to do too much. The offense scheme was so conservative early on, it allowed a good Buffalo
defense to pack the box and smother the Jets.

Gase is a horrible HC (QB whisperer....haha)
OL will get better as continuity improves
    Douglas is a keeper!!
    At least 5-6 drops

perriman was terrible as was hogan.

mims would a least make a few catches

    The jets missed him yesterday.

crowder and Herndon were targeted 60% of the time.

just no talent on the wr front yesterday.

let’s see Allen throw to Herndon and Crowder instead of diggs, brown and Beasley.

It doesn’t excuse his mental breakdowns with throwing a INT across his body, taking a stupid sack when he could of threw it away, and having a delay of game to START a drive. Darnold was awful yesterday. There is no excuses or sugar coating it. Joe Douglas failed him with weapons but some of his decisions are mindboggling.

I agree, but I can forgive him the INT to some extent. The team was already 21-0 down and approaching the middle of the second quarter iirc. He was trying to make something happen, extend a drive and spark the O into life. The receiver was open for a second and he tried something ill advised and difficult, fluffed it and it looked terrible. But in that situation I'd rather he tried something than throw the ball away, even if it backfired. Now if he'd done that in a tight game I'd be right with you, but most of his wtf throws seem to fall into the category of trying to make things happen when behind in the game.

Sam has the least amount of talent/ weapons out of almost everyone on that list. It can be argued that he has the least amount of talent than anyone on that list.

We are playing out preseason right now with a new offensive line and no number 1 receiver so no vertical threat. Additionally, Buffalo has way mote talent than us and better coaching.

Without any regard to your overall argument, that line right there is the bullshittiest bullshit ever shat by a bull.

I didn't say anything about Sam.

I do say STATISTICS LIE ABOUT ALL KINDS OF THINGS ALL THE DAMN TIME. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.

Like in Jet fashion we are going to win some games we have NO RIGHT in winning which will drag things along further for another year. We as Jets fans are all to familiar to the false flag of hope games we win each year. Look at the Dallas MNF Last year and how hype we all were after that.

I'd rather have Sam than Tyrod Taylor, Rivers, Haskins and Fitzpatrick right now. Baker is a tie. Just my take.

Sadly, I'm stating to believe that Sam's floor is Mark Sanchez and his ceiling is Andy Dalton.
