I'm expecting a nice game out of Barlow. He'll come in with a chip on his shoulder after being inactive for a couple of weeks.
Why should we even believe Mangini? Name me one time this season he told the truth about an injury or a guy participating in practice. Earlier this year he said Coles didn't practice cause of his wrist (remember?) and when they brought it up to Coles, he said something to the effect of 'I didn't?'
Not sure about that rob. Mangini has yet to let Leon carry the load. When he brought in Houston and starting sitting Barlow...Houston got more carries...as did Barlow before he was replaced. As much as Mangini likes Leon...he truly looks at Leon as a change of pace/breakaway only type back. Leon hasnt shown the ability to grind yards over 20 carries. He can get 20..but in a tight field position game..not sure if Mangini wants him out there trying to get 4 or 5 yards at a clip. I really like the kid. He can break big yardage at anytime..and hopefully this would be another big game for him to breakout. Just not expecting 20-24 carries from him.
Barlow's servicable for this game, with Washington splittling carries. I don't think this is that big of a deal
Well the forecast here is rain for monday.....so maybe barlow will show up...he's a mudder....Think mangini will have these guys ready to play :finssuck:
sounds like a little bit of mangini magic to me.... let the stupid fish gameplan for barlow and then drop da bomb on dem...
Kramer gets a tip about a horse while riding on the train. He gives the tip to someone and that person tells him "its wet there" Kramer responds with that line..lol. He ends up winning the race and money and being followed by a guy that was in the same OTB where Kramer watched and collected his winnings. A really good Seinfeld episode.
Last night, i was with dan leberfeld, he said unless cedric has a good practice, instead of the rehab work hes been doing, mangini will definitely deactivate him. He also said barlow isnt 100%.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/story/482305p-405941c.html Houston should miss Miami Cedric Houston, the Jets' leading rusher over the last five games, is unlikely to play in Monday night's pivotal game against the Dolphins. Houston, who suffered a calf injury in last week's win over the Vikings, was limited yesterday in practice and watched as Leon Washington and Kevan Barlow split the reps at running back. Houston may not even be active for the game, according to a person familiar with the situation. "Cedric didn't do anything (Wednesday); we had him rehabbing," Eric Mangini said before yesterday's practice. "We're going to have to look at it today and just see where it is." It doesn't make sense to force a banged-up Houston into the lineup when the Jets can simply turn to a well-rested Barlow, who hasn't dressed for the last three games. Chances are, Barlow (team-leading six rushing TDs) and Washington (team-leading 571 yards) will share time in the backfield. Two weeks ago, Barlow said he still was recovering from offseason knee surgery, and that he was "playing on one leg." But he indicated yesterday that he's ready to accept an expanded role, if needed. Last week, Barlow wore eye-black even though he wasn't in uniform, his way of staying involved in the game. "I was pumped up," he said. "I have to calm myself down sometimes. I try to keep myself into it mentally. I watch the defense and try to help Cedric and Leon. I try to earn my money some way." Dolphins DE Jason Taylor said the Jets have "very adequate backs." Lukewarm praise, indeed. Notebook CHRISTMAS IN THE SUN: The Jets won't fly to Miami until mid-afternoon Sunday, a couple of hours later than usual, so the players can spend extra time with their families on Christmas Eve. Several players said their families are making the trip to Miami. Upon arriving in Miami, the Jets have a special-teams meeting. "That will be festive," Mangini joked. "Maybe (special teams coach) Mike Westhoff will wear a Santa hat." A holiday-themed ballroom at the team hotel will be available for players and family. It will have holiday foods and desserts. Owner Woody Johnson and GM Mike Tannenbaum, who Mangini called the party planners, made the arrangements. YANK HANK? CB Hank Poteat is coming off his best game, but there are rumblings that David Barrett, who had a key interception in Minnesota, could have a bigger role.... Dolphins coach Nick Saban shot down persistent rumors that he's a candidate for the Alabama job. "I'm not interested in being a coach there," he said....Dolphins DT Dan Wilkinson (calf) was placed on injured reserve....WR Marty Booker (sprained ankle) is not expected to play. Cedric Houston (calf) is not expected to play Monday night at Miami. Leon Washington and Kevan Barlow will almost certainly be the Jets' active running backs. Barlow, who is expected to have fresh legs after being inactive the last three weeks, will likely take the goal-line carries, while Washington might get the bulk of the touches overall. Brad Smith is a viable option out of the backfield. Notice how teams have been going all out after him lately when he's in. Weather he gets the ball or not. Could set up tons of confusion if you were to leave him in there.
yep....this would be a great game to pull the HB pass wit Smith.....phins are a react defense.....i could see it working....GO JETS!!! :finssuck:
