In 2000 all many Jet fans wanted for Christmas was a Jets victory. The New York Jets found themselves in similar holiday situation playing on Christmas eve. That year the Jets started 6-1. Including a win verses the Bucs in the Keyshawn vs. Cherbet game. Down the stretch the Jets stumbled and found themselves needing a win vs the Ravens. A team with a very, very good defense and a very, very mediocre offense. The Jets came out no huddle that day and quickly went up two scores. The future Superbowl champs would battle back and won however, 34-20 giving the Jets and their fans nothing but coal for Christmas. The Jets missed the playoffs that year after losing their last three games. This weekend all many of us again want for Christmas is a Jet win. This is a perfect time to break the same ol' Jets curse. It would be a big time, last season Jets victory. Something some Jet fans may not have seen yet. So here's to hoping we don't get swamped under this holiday season again.
I remember that once cause I was there. The only thing I got out of that was Victor Greens Gloves. I was 3 rows in screaming my head off all day. Going back and forth hyping up the D, Everytime the D made a Play I'd scream "All Day"! Eventually, Green and Ellis started screaming it back to me. It was one of my best JETS game memories. Unfortunately, Vinny decided to be giving right before the half. Ughh. Made me sick. Don't remind me!
Yeah but as I recall they took Vinny out of the no huddle after he was so effective and then Vinny seemed to fall out of rhythm.
The Jets put up almost 500 yds against them (the first team all year to do it) and ruined the Ravens bid for the "best D ever". When the G-Men played them in the SB, they tried to copy our 5-wide game plan. The G-Men were pounded like a crack whore who got caught stealing her pimps favorite bling.
Ah. The Al Groh year. That was somthing... I remember watching that Colts game. Back then I could only watch limited games. Glad I got that game instead of the Raiders disaster.
That game has nothing to do with this one. Different coach, different QB, different situation, different opponent, different personnel. Who cares what happened 6 years ago???? Why relate that to this game. How about this for an analogy. In 2002, the Jets needed to beat NE on the road in the next to last game of the season to remain in the playoff hunt and they did. That has as much if not more relevance to Monday's game. In 1971 on Christmas Day, the Dolphins beat the Chiefs in overtime in a playoff game - at the time it was the longest game in NFL history. This game troubles me when I think about Monday. The Dolphins always seem to win on Christmas.
