I feel very good about Perriman one week in. Coach and QB rave about him, can’t be a bad thing. I know one former Jet WR that didn’t get this kind of love...

Don't forget about Griffin at the TE spot before he got hurt he was producing well for the Jets. The play-action should be dangerous given the fixes on the offensive line and our TEs, hopefully Perriman can be a deep threat.

Sam is the real deal at QB. He does everything you want a QB to do on and off the field. Looks like he is progressing and maturing into more of a leader this year too. I really think the sky is the limit for him.

It is about time they released some video of these good moves rather than just text

To his credit, he did lead our team in sacks last year(8) and has had 15 the last two seasons.

Yes, if all three TEs prove to be reliable receivers, that would take a lot of pressure off of Sam, Mims and the WR corps. The Jets could run a 2-TE offense most of the time. It would help with blocking in the rushing attack, and still provide plenty of options for Sam. That may have been what JD was counting on for this season. With Bell, Herndon, Griffin, and Crowder alone, that's a pretty good receiving corps. If Perriman can be a reliable WR and deep threat, then Sam should be OK, even if Mims struggles. If Mims gets healthy and Wesco proves that he can be a reliable target, things get even better.

I'm hoping for double digit sacks. This is a contract year (again) for him. He can get to 10-12, he's in line for a nice payday

He's not a game changer, but a lunch pail type who will come to play and make a few plays here and here. A nice "middle class" player to have, but shouldn't stop the team from looking for a better pass rusher.

That would certainly be nice. What I do like about Jordan is you can clearly see in his interviews that the dude cares about winning and wants to get better (himself and team). Looking at his numbers, each year he's improved. Rock solid guy and player. Really happy the Jets resigned him.

    https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2020/...ng-camp-sam-darnold-leveon-bell-mekhi-becton/

This article details 8 Jets players that are receiving raves in training camp.

    The 8 are:

    1. Sam Darnold - Gore has compared Sam to Andrew Luck, Sam is more confident, reading Ds better, taken more leadership
    2. Breshard Perriman - Has opened eyes with his speed and route running, knows the playbook well
    3. Chris Herndon - He has already locked down the starting TE job according to the article and established himself as an integral part of the passing attack, is a reliable blocker
    4. Mekhi Becton - Has picked up the offense quickly and could dominate as soon as this season
    5. Blake Cashman - Has proven that last season was no fluke, and staked a claim to a major role in the Jets' D
    6. Bradley McDougald - Is a leader, is winning over teammates, Greg Williams say that he is very good, a hard worker, and has a chip on his shoulder
    7. Ashtyn Davis - Greg Williams says that Davis has done very well in everything they've seen. He's a smart guy, has a very good skill set, and is an extremely hard worker. The mental aspect just needs to slow down.
    8. Le'Veon Bell - Gase been blown away by him so far.

Marcus Maye fielding punts for shorthanded Jets

    Spencer Aber

With the Jets shorthanded at a variety of positions, Marcus Maye has begun taking on more responsibility.

At Sunday’s practice, Maye voluntarily asked to return punts on special teams. Adam Gase said on Tuesday that Maye is just one example of a player stepping into a position that has been affected by an injury. Ashtyn Davis also fielded punts on Tuesday with Braxton Berrios sitting out of practice due to personal reasons, though the rookie safety was already a candidate for that role.

Maye has played special teams in his pro career, but never as a returner. He’s taken 123 snaps on special teams over his three years as a Jet. So Maye is not unfamiliar with that aspect of the game.

The Jets may need guys like Maye to fill in at positions that have been demolished by injuries. That was a problem in 2019 when the Jets didn’t have a whole lot of depth at a lot of positions and had to plug in players off the street.

More likely than not, Maye will not be returning punts for the Jets in 2020. However, the Jets need to have a plan in place in case disaster strikes. So getting Maye some reps as a punt returner is not such a bad thing.
