This guy has an absolute canon for a leg. I wasn't sold on waisting a pick on a punter......until now. He is also a very good directional punter. Great pick up JD.
I had to google for a punt hang times. I found an article from 2015 ( https://www.pff.com/news/specialists-week-punters ) that says that average hang time is 4.44s, but of course field position matters, it's not like every punt is kicked with maximum power. Another thing I found was that the longest hang time has been 5.6s so that makes his 5.4 pretty damn impressive.
Damn this dude doesn’t have a shank punt in that leg it’s a rocket. He either will kick it out the end zone or really far. Don’t think we will see a shank punt of 15 yards ever again
Can't understand why anyone thinks this was a wasted pick He'll be around for years and should be consistently good
Lol honestly never watched punting videos but here I am, and he’s BOOMING these...the ooohs and aahhhs were crazy lol
If this is the guy they get, this was a steal. Being able to flip fields like that, especially when kicking out of the back of your own end zone, can make big differences in every game.
Kicking out of the back of your own end zone is a staple of the Adam Gase offense. We may have gotten ourselves a steal.
This guy is a textbook definition of an "X Factor". He'll make an immediate impact. This was a guy I was really hoping JD would get and he did!
Kickoff specialist too, so each kick will likely be a touchback with that leg. Definitely a weapon for the special teams. Hopefully he can hold on kicks too, because I am pretty sure Edwards was the holder. Either way, looks like a great pick. People complaining are ridiculous. In fact, you could argue no 6th round pick will contribute as much or as early as Mann will.
If he gains an extra 10-15 yards per punt that's like 50-60 yards of extra field position a game. Probably more than Bell will get us! And a lot cheaper too.
