Why is it that all major NY and NJ papers have the Giants dominate every back page on Mondays? The Jets today had a little corner strip on the backpage with something like "Jets keep playoff hopes alive with win at Vikings" and the Giants get the glorious title of "Average Schmoes".

The Giants are 7-7 in an extremely weak conference. The Jets are not only one of leagues biggest surprises, but they are 8-6 in a much tougher conference.

I know its been posted a thousand times about this but honestly its getting pathetic. I get to see a picture of a weeping eli manning and "on the brink of serial killing" jeremy shockey on the back page every week.

When a team like the Jets bounces back after a tough, unexcused loss while executing a gameplan to perfection, they get a corner snippet on the back page. I'm pretty sure Mangini could suit up at fullback next game, run for 100 yards and lay Jason Taylor out and it wouldn't make it into the papers.

The more I think about all the sayings how NY is the hardest place to play because there is so much pressure from the media and all that garbage. I think Mangini has every Jets player above that because they can't talk to the media and all the pressure to win comes solely from inside the organization. The Giants in addition to losing every other week always have some sort of fight or verbal confrontation between coaches and players. The only thing you ever read about in the papers is Mangini preparing his players in unique ways instead of the "superior" Giants who are arguing over what tattoo Jeremy Shockey should get next.

If the media doesn't wanna love the Jets it pisses me off, but I guess I realize now that stealing the headlines won't be a problem when Mangini is cracking a smile at 10-6 in the playoffs and Tom Coughlin is sitting at home in his Giants sweater watching Home Improvement.

The bottomline is that Mangini gets the most of out every man on the team with no praise from the media and the Giants complete disaster of talent makes headlines. But if we keep winning I guess I shouldn't care.

Unfortunately, that's just the way it is here in the big city. The media just values and respects the Giants more than the Jets.

But soon the Giants will be out of it and if our team can win out, we'll be the only ones standing and they will be forced to reckon with us.

The funny thing is that after the Bills game we were saying that we wanted to fly under the radar the rest of the way. That shouldn't change now

Some folks want to stay under the radar, and other want to be acknowledged...everyone has there preference, but it will be safe to say that it will be impossible to ignore our sucess much longer.

I like getting some attention from the local guys like Mike and the Mad Dog and other NY talk radio hosts but I have no need for ESPN to tell me the Jets will make the playoffs. They did that two weeks ago and we had a let down.

You should have heard Jaworski on NFL Primetime tonight raving and gushing over the Jets. It was almost embarrassing.

I'd rather go under the radar, with no media coverage. Less pressure on the players.

The media just has a too high opinion of themselves, and has a bit too much power. Better to ignore them completely and put them in their place. Even Herm the master media manipulator knew he only had so long before the media turned on him like a pack of dogs. Yeah I question his coaching skills, but nobody can deny the man's media abilities. The man dominated the NY media for 5 years...he's basically a HOFer in that regard.

Why? 75% of the area football fans are Giants fans.

Newsday prefers the Jets more than the Giants....But as far as NYC papers go, Giants definitely rule the roost.

If there are so many rabid Giant fans around why do games in the Meadowlands against the Eagles and Cowboys sound like road games? People like to bash Jet fans every week for being quiet and not showing up yet I've never seen anything as embarassing as those 2 "home" games for the Giants this year.

How do you know this? Is this a fact? I'm asking because I always thought it was in the range of 60-65 percent in the Giants favor

F*&k them all is what i say! Make us second class to the two bit cry babies in giant land. So sick of hearing chockey week in and week out talk about how much talent they have and how they should be so good -- blah blah blah -- and if my farts were diamonds I would be rich dumb ass!

    JETS TIME BABY!

It's just like the Yankees and Mets. The Yankees will always get the banner headlines on a day to day basis and the Mets will get them only if they are dominating their division.

And I agree that more football fans in the tri-state area are Giants fans than Jets fans. Why? Because the Giants are a much older franchise and in some ways a much more successful one over the years. This leads to generational loyalty and a guaranteed fan base. The Jets basically started the show later and had no shot at all at picking up the average football fan in NY in their early years. Then Namath gave them a big boost and they got to 40-60 or therabouts, which is pretty much where it stands now.

The Mets actually had a much better playing field in front of them in 1962 because they had a ton of recently deserted ex-Giants and Dodgers fans to pick up. Those National League fans hated the Yankees with a passion and they attached themselves to the Mets early and equally passionately. 1969 sealed the deal.

That's not the way it always is but he gianst are a giant mess right now, they are a soap opera perfectly fit for the back pages. It's like the old yankees when George used to fire Managers 2x a year. They are a joke and I like that they are getting this attention for being bad rather than being ignored.

I always feel like if you turn on 660 randomly during the summer, they are way more likely to be talking about the Mets than the Yankees.

And I think you are right about the National League fans. I'm a Yankee fan and so's my immediate family, but all my uncles became Met fans out of their hatred for the Yanks...The Mets were the only available local option after the Dodgers and Giants left (well, not right after they left, but soon enough)
