I dont think we should take him.. he may be very costly and im sure a high standard running back will drop to us in the first round (im pretty much set on taking a nt or olb in the first)
Alot depends on how San Diego does this year. I'm not sure they'd be willing to part with him if they come up just short. One of the reason's LT is playing so well right now is he's fresh because Tomilson and Turner almost platooned at the begining of the year.
He is playing even better than lamont was as a backup...I dont think there is any question he can be a great starter... and calling jordan a good backup is stupid when everyone and their mother knows the raiders have a terrible oline blocking for him.
if we could get turner for a 2nd rd pick I'd do it in a heartbeat, and im not even for drafting a RB 1st rd. I've loved the guy in college and think he could be a top RB if starting somewhere. then we could address 2 of the 3 positions at OL/DE/OLB with the 2 remaining picks wed have before rd 3. the remaining 1 of those positions could be addressed through FA. i would do it in a second if the chargers were willing to bite on a 2nd rd pick.
There are 115 Division 1 schools with starting running backs. Why not ask our scouts to go out and do their job and find us a good one we can take in the 3rd round?
Plaqued with Injuries? 3.8 ypc? Are you serious? Jordan had a Solid year last year. Do I have to post his stats....again? Add to that , last year & This year the Raiders probably have the worst O-Line in the NFL. Anyway, It'll be fun to see the how turner turns out.
No way they don't give this guy a 1st round tender. He's a great talent and for the money they'll pay him he makes an excellent backup to LT next year. The question really is if we are set on using our first rounder to get him, b/c thats what it would come down to....I say we wait until the draft instead of losing picks to RFA's.
I wouldn't be surprised if SD would take a 2nd for him, instead they will lose him for nothing the following year. I'm sure they also don't want to put to much money into LTs backup, which is probably the most meaningful job in the entire sport..
I also wouldn't mind taking a RB either, but only if its a 1st-round caliber back like Peterson, Lynch, etc. Michael Bush wouldn't be a bad pick either if he proves he's healthy, and Irons could be a steal in the second. However, there's no point in taking one later as they probably wouldn't be an upgrade over Houston/Washington. I would love to get a top young RB, though, to set up our future offense with Clemens-Lynch (or other)-Coles-Cotchery, which would be excellent.
yeah and blair thomas was a number one pick too!! theres no reason to take an attitude towards the suggestion.thats f\definitely whats wrong with this board. God forbid someone have an opinion without getting jumped on....So whats the answer oh brilliant one?
I remember this line of thinking when it came to acquiring Justin Mac. Remember all the talk of, "He's worth trading a second round pick for because he has a lot of upside and he's better than any receiver we could get in that round..." No thanks. I'd rather keep the pick.
Did someone seriously just say that Lamont Jordan is not that good when letting him be the lead back? I would do anything to have him back here right now, of course he's done horrible, he's gone to hell in oakland, just look at Randy Moss.... I am really liking this Michael Turner thing, and I want the Jets to draft Troy Smith wih the 2nd round pick
