The Jets Information from that Article: • Some observers around the league were surprised at the size of the contract extension the Jets paid to OLB Bryan Thomas, who recently signed a five-year, $25 million deal that included a reported $9 million in guaranteed money. But we hear the team believes Thomas is an excellent fit for its 3-4 defense, as evidenced by his career-best 7½ sacks this season while rushing the passer from his hybrid OLB-DE position. • Word is, the list of veteran players who are likely to be released by the Jets following this season has grown to include RB Kevan Barlow, CB David Barrett, ORT Anthony Clement, OL Adrian Jones, WR Justin McCareins, DT C.J. Mosley and QB Patrick Ramsey, among others. • We hear that the season-ending foot injury suffered by Jets WR Tim Dwight will give rookie Brad Smith the opportunity to prove he's more than a gimmick player. Our sources tell us that Smith will line up in the slot and work the underneath routes in the middle of the field. He must prove to the coaches that he can get open and is tough enough to take hits.
# 78 Ed Blanton (Practice Squad) Position: T Height: 6-9 Weight: 330 Born: 10/23/1982 College: UCLA NFL Experience: Rookie
Every year people go on about how much they like this guy or that guy and every year those guys suck, don't help us win, and end up unemployed or on practice squads.
thats what i thought too. looks like we will be looking or drafting a good cb, at least day one. i dont like poteat or coleman starting. i wish miller would start to come along at cb.
I think it pretty much sums it up that Ramsey will be out come next season. I mean Clemens did "beat him" in the position battle Mangini held the other day. (I read about it in the Daily News).
I only remember seeing him in training camp and hes a monster. Size isnt a problem for him at all. Hes a project. I doubt he can start next year but could become good depth at the tackle position.
Look Barrett is expendable...Dyson will be here for sure. And the offseason CB lists includes Asante Samuel and Nate Clements, i'd expect a run at Samuel. They have Drew Coleman who could be a Nickel Corner, and Justin Miller still has potential and this will be his 3rd year and pretty much last chance to prove himself as a Corner with the Jets... Bye Barrett.
Somewhere on another team's message board, someone is making a thread titled "We Need To Sign Patrick Ramsey For Next Year".
yeah, i've been clamoring for Samuel for the past 2 months. now that Barrett may be gone, it is definitely a possibility. i'm sure Mangini has a rapport with him and can lure him to the Jets. cheers
If we release Barrett, I don't see any way we don't make a hard run at Clements and Samuel. As for Ramsey, it was just a matter of time. Good idea to sign him, but it didn't work out.
yea i agree.....i didnt like the signing @ first....but he's not that bad considering, i thought they'll keep him around 2 :finssuck:
