Chad getting us to the Super Bowl??   Don't care about meaningless stats... sorry. Last game trumps that sh_t.
Many QB's who make it to the Super Bowl play badly until it counts for the win. Chad plays good while winning. He doesn't get up for a fight back to win. It's this quality that's needed. And, Chad just doesn't seem to have it.
What you meant was that a bad quarterback doesn't matter. Not many people are going to honestly share that opinion. And, it's not the opinion that Chad is simply bad. He just can't seem to get up for games when needed. And, even with the best of teams a noncompetitive quarterback will keep you from ever achieving a Super Bowl. At this point a Chad Super Bowl is hardcore fiction.
Huh? He can't get up for games when needed? Do we really have to start naming big games he's won again? C'mon now. I repeat, I'm unhappy with his performance as well and I'm not a Chad apologist, just a realist, but the point you're trying to make is ridiculous. Your next sentence is hysterical. Reread it please. A "non-competitive" QB? The guys Stevie mentioned (and a whole lot he didn't) are better than Chad? They didn't "keep" their teams from winning a SB but you think Chad would? Why is it so hard to admit that none of can forsee the future? DOUG WILLIAMS won a Super Bowl! Your final sentence about fiction is negated by this simple fact.
Oh wait, I forgot this one. Didn't you see last year's Super Bowl? Other way around. When it counted, Ben was horrible, and the Steelers won. Aside from this there are so many examples of merely servicable QBs in the SB, just look it up.
Super Bowl Quarterbacks since 95-96 season: XXX - 1/28/96 Troy Aikman, Dallas Cowboys Neil O'Donnell, Pittsburgh Steelers XXXI - 1/26/97 Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers Drew Bledsoe, New England Patriots XXXII - 1/25/98 John Elway, Denver Broncos Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers XXXIII - 1/31/99 John Elway, Denver Broncos Chris Chandler, Atlanta Falcons XXXIV - 1/30/00 Kurt Warner, St. Louis Rams Steve McNair, Tennessee Titans XXXV - 1/28/01 Trent Dilfer, Baltimore Ravens Kerry Collins, New York Giants XXXVI - 2/3/02 Tom Brady, New England Patriots Kurt Warner, St. Louis Rams XXXVII - 1/26/03 Brad Johnson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rich Gannon, Oakland Raiders XXXVIII - 2/1/04 Tom Brady, New England Patriots Jake Delhomme, Carolina Panthers XXXVIX - 2/6/05 Tom Brady, New England Patriots Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia XL - 2/5/06 Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle ........... The one characteristic that almost ALL of these quarterbacks had was a competitive spirit at that time that got them there. You really need to go over the games we had this year that needed such a competitive spirit. Chad didn't have it. Chad choked..... Your opinion, at best, amounts to something like, ...blue eyed quarterbacks always win... It's just ridiculous. As a Jets fan that enjoys winning the tough ones, Chad needs to go.
Okay, this year - like NE (decent comeback in the first game, too)? Or last week in Lambeau? He wasn't competitive against the Colts? It's fine if you don't like him as a QB but don't make stuff up. That's just this year. Go back and look at his career, you'll find a few big wins, I think. A playoff win or two in there as well. Competitive spirit? Yeah, Collins, Dilfer, Gannon, Johnson, Chandler (jury is still out on Delhomme and Roethlisberger) - I'm sure they are all more competitive than Chad. Can you stop and think about what you just wrote? Go back a little further, you're just on the surface of bad QBs in the SB. Have a look at the 70s and 80s, a couple of good names there as well. Look, I don't want to argue, we all want the same thing, but you just have to be realistic through your frustration sometimes, that's all I'm trying to say.
Look, I haven't studied Chad his whole life. I really enjoyed the games that Chad came out rolling this year. But, when he didn't come out rolling it seemed the game was already over. I've seen the protection this year. And, I'd have to say that there are many quarterbacks in the league that would have us almost undefeated at this point. I understand optimism. And, I agree that a run for the Super Bowl is a team effort. But, in my opinion Chad isn't just a weak link. He's more like a broke link. Our team really has no chance if Chad is having a "bad day". I'm sorry that I can't find it in myself to give your optimism some benefit of the doubt. I think our team needs a Manning, Elway, Brady, Bledsoe, or Montana at their primes. I don't see Chad getting to that point with the Jets. That said, I am not privy to the inner workings of the Jets. It is important why he sucks so bad at really bad times. If it is an addressible issue my whole opinion would of course change. But, from the performances this season (And, I did enjoy the Pats game... But, the Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Chicago, and Bills games all sucked.) more then suggests that bringing the team from behind is not going to be a good possibility as long as Chad is having his problems. And frankly, a Chad Super Bowl seems to be on the verge of insanity at this point.
thanks for the endorsement jonny  now that I have power of attorney maybe we can talk about your portfolio.
Competitive spirit? Maybe Chad needs to take some pom-poms out in the huddle to show you his spirit. Whatever...
You have a point. I really am not suggesting that Chad doesn't want to win games. I am suggesting that he doesn't show the ability to ever push a team from behind. In fact, when he is having a bad day we lose. Not just because he is depended on. But, because his mistakes are so catastrophic as to keep the team from having a chance to win in spite of him. And, the way Chad has played this year will keep us from ever making the Super Bowl.
