Chad has had a TON of passing attempts the last couple games, and i am starting to think that we are passing too much. We keep going away from the run which when we actually ran the ball yesterday, we looked pretty good. I think we should stick with it more as chad is at his best off of play action passes.
No way. I thought we ran too much yesterday.. Amazing how people can see a game entirely differently. Of course, passing wasn't working, and that may be why. However, once we got down 10+ , we had to pass.
I think Houston ran it 18 times for 50 yards. I don't care who you are, that's terrible. I like Washington alot but he is what he is and force feeding him the ball isn't going to produce the kind of success over 20 carries that he had yesterday over 5 or 6.
we should be able to because we have the "2nd most accurate qb in nfl history" ROFL.......ahhh man. yeah we could run it and pass it more but the balls to busy finding its way from chad to defenders. I think its part of a trick play Schotty rehearsed.
Chad is the 2nd most accurate, because DUmp Offs, most days, are not hard to complete. Warner being on that list is much more impressive, because back when he was with the Rams they were chucking it all over the ballyard.
It ironically looked like we started out the game trying to pass the ball to open up the run, as weird as that sounds. But when we couldn't move the chains with the pass and couldn't run it all that well either, and the pressure on Chad started, I thought, "Oh shit... please... no Chinese Fire Drill." Then you get behind and it goes into Three Stooges Mode.
I agree, I think we're learning this year that while Herm/Hackett/Dinger were to blame a good amount for the offense here in Herm's 5 yrs, Chad has a little to do with it too. Funny thing is Clemens looks scared as hell ot be out there. Granted, the game was over, so we won't judge him by it but wow.
Of course he's scared. By this time Buffalo is having so much fun with the Chinese Fire Drill they never want it to end. They're on the buffet line helping themselves to every last egg roll and they figure Clemens isn't going to stop them. Clemens has to be sat down and convinced that it WILL be different for him if he delivers the ball out there with the accuracy and crispness he's capable of. He needs someone to tell him this is precisely how you prevent the Fire Drill from happening in the first place. You keep them honest, keep them back there and keep them away from the egg rolls.
Leon especially needs more carries. He would constitently bust big gains, then mangini takes him out. The running game works, we need to use it.
Our running game shut down once we were getting killed and we tried forcing it because it was obvious chad couldnt throw. At that point, the Bills stacked the line making it impossible to run so dont let the final numbers fool you. In the first half, our running game was working and yet we continued to go away from it which made no sense to me. Consistantly on 3rd and 1 plays this year, we do playaction and try to pass for the first down. I called that on Chads first sack and Buffalo obviously knew it was coming to. There is nothing wrong with running for the first on 3rd and 1 and we continually dont do it. Makes no sense to me.
its hard to run when the defense know were not going to pass the ball over 10 yards. All the defense need to do is stack up underneath 10 yards and anticipate eithe a run or a short pass. The defense already know they need to react forward not backwards since chad can't do anything +10 yrds. Plus since chad lofts the ball they know if we go deep theyll have enough time to react to it.
yea he (chad) did look bad...it was like they were daring him to throw.....floaties all day :finssuck:
If someone were to actually give him practice reps with the starters and let him start a game, maybe he could get that opportunity. Instead, he's thrown into a game with no practice and down by a lot, with the defense gearing down on the pass. Hardly fair. The alternative is to give him a start at the end of the season, when the rest of the team is just going to quit anyway. Great job, set the kid up for failure. And people act like Herm was bad about this, at least he let Chad start 3/4 of the season.
This is why I find it difficult to believe people DON'T want to draft Lynch et al Houston had a good start but he got stuffed afterward
bingo, dead on...i was wondering what we were doing when we opened up the game with 3 straight passes...just a bad game for everyone
I think Schotti probably did this because he figured the Bills expected us to run the ball. But they were prepared in either event. And Pennington's first throws were also erratic right off the bat, which led to a 3-and-out I think. That was the first bad omen for me. By our second possession, when our run didn't appear to move, I turned to my wife and said, "I don't like this game." She knows when I say "I don't like this game" that something doesn't look right and she knows we're in for a long day against these bastards, especially when McGahee shows up looking like a spry spring chick with absolutely no ankle problems whatsoever. WTF? Were we duped? What was with "the boot?"
I thought this was the first game where B. Schott got a little too cute with all the shifts and motions. Don't out think yourself, or try to manufacture yards when you aren't forced. Problem, from my vantage point, is that when the Jets get down in a game, and need to pass, Chad's lack of arm strength becomes magnified.
