What in the actual fuck? I literally disregarded those reports before the draft indicating Mac could be fired after this past draft. ....because Its literally tooooo fucking dumb to comprehend this as an actual option. Why, in the blue fuck, would you give the GM you were planning to fire 100Mil and a Top 3 draft pick to play with, if you were set to fire him? Whhhhhhhy???? Would you not fire Bowles and Mac at the same time????? I am embarrassed to be a fan of this team but I'm loyal. What a shit show... Fucking morons man. I literally didn't think even the Johnson's were this fucking stupid. What a bunch of clowns. Then you give Gase the reigns to the show? How the fuck did that work out for the Dolphins? If it's broke, fix it. You don't take someone else's broken mess and make it your own. Capital F, Fucking moron. Jesus. What a joke.
It has nothing to do with performance, drafting, free agency, etc.. Adam Gase wanted control of everything and the owners gave it to him. Lets call it like it is.
I must admit, I'm trying to resist becoming a darksider, but this organization is trying its hardest to make me one.
Running a draft is not "Plug & play". You can't just throw somebody to the wolves as GM w. only a month/weeks to spare. Too much time, preparation, deliberation etc has already transpired. It appears there was a rift between Heimerdinger & Mac very close to the actual draft which was the deal breaker. Well these are the top 2 decision makers in your war room. imagine the backlash if they had fired them both 3 weeks before the draft. And who'd be aking the picks at that point? Gase? CHRIS JOHNSON? Woody by morse code over the pond? Of course it's not ideal...but ya hope the GM puts optics aside & understands how much work he put into leading up to this draft & sees it as an opportunity to audition for a future job. Simple as that. At this stage what is more important? When we let the OLD gm go or when the best time is to hire & empower a NEW Gm? I'll go w. the latter. 7 months to do QA, Hire a big boy staff & have a plan in place for mid December. Beats the hell out of a few weeks before the draft or in late December competing against other teams w. only a few weeks before the Senior bowl when incumbent GM's have been sitting on preliminary draft boards/plans since mid December.
Fight the good fight! Struggle against the mighty force that 14-34, no PO's in over 6 years and no SB since man landed on the moon. With Chris Johnson making all the critical decisions, its only a matter of time before the football world stops laughing their asses off at the mention of the Jets.
Would there have been enough time to build a personnel department while the draft and FA was incoming? Think they allowed them to complete that process and moved on from him
Total over reaction. Mac is at best a middle of the pack GM. The problem is who's making the hire. Firing Mac isn't a disaster, it's not even a blip.
I think you're bang on the money, now we have to wait and see if the Bell rumours are true or not ffs Also WTF has Gase got against Bell or spending big on the RB position it isn't like we had a talented bunch kicking about.
Why would a GM in year 5 of a rebuild have a 100 million to play with and a top 3 draft pick? That's the reason to fire him.
No one is sorry that Macc walked the plank. I don't think we'll ever get the real explanation as to the why. I just think Jet Nation deserves better than the amateur VP of Football OPs /CEO running this clusterfuck.
I disagree with this so much. Based on your post, your suggesting THIS is the TIME teams should actually fire their GM? That the Johnsons are actually low key geniuses right now? Is that accurate? Just want to clarify, my reading comprehension may be in question right now.
I feel much better about gase running the entire franchise then someone like Mac running 50 percent of it
