Wow, wasn't Pitt offering 30M guaranteed last year? Sounds like we could pretty much part ways after 2 years with this set up. Steal of a deal by Mac. Hopefully Lenny Bell is pissed off with something to prove.
The Steelers deal was $33 the first 2 years $10 million signing bonus, 10 million roster bonus year 1 plus salary so $20.795 year 1 . This Deal also has reporting bonus's year 3 and 4 to "prevent" holdouts. The Pitt game will be fun.... Hopefully its later in the season. I expect Bell to start a little slow early on.
He lost out on total guaranteed. Guaranteed at signing depends on how you want to look at it. If cut within 10 days of signing, he walks with 10 million and hits free agency without the dark shadow. Was never getting cut year one so then he picks up $10,975,000 more year 1. That's almost his entire guaranteed here. Same scenario year 2. If he's cut he's a FA and gets paid. If not he gets $13 mill, surpassing his 25 here by $8 million. If injured, he would have collected $45 mill. I'm sure someone will spin it that taking less in every facet and leaving over 20 million, 14.5 if you discount the contract offer for the tag on the table, is a better deal.
Rolling rolling rolling lol. End of the day we got a great deal and Bell wildly overestimated what he thought he was going to command. But hey, he got his freedom.
The way I see it, this sets us up to take a RB in next year's loaded class to eventually take over for Bell.
So, permit me a moment to say that I'm beyond ecstatic to see Le'Veon f'n Bell put on a Jets uniform. I never thought I'd see the day my favorite player in the league would suit up for the Jets every Sunday. This guy is amazing to watch when he's on the field. It's been ages since we've had an offensive talent like this on the Jets. I think the media and others focusing on all the BS surrounding Bell's holdout has made some forget who this man is. I have little doubt he's going to remind everyone fairly quickly. I can't wait to see it.
ASJ perhaps. Somewhere I saw this floated on the internets but I forget where. Jared Cook is out there too. And while he is about to turn 32 he did go 68-896-6td's last year. Short term deal. Having Herndon and Cook could give us a pretty deadly TE connection and a great red zone offense as he's 6'5 (Herndon 6'4)
All of the stuff on Bell and his contract is being reported pretty unfortunately, the truth is Bell took a gamble but one that ultimately was the safer call. Long story short, the word guarantee is used in the same way as cheese. There is 5 year aged swiss, and there’s “American Cheese.” You can put either on a burger but they aren’t created equally. Essentially, Le’Veon has genuinely guaranteed that he and his family are now $35 million richer, and compared to what the Steelers offered we’re talking about the a difference of almost $20 million in guaranteed income. It’s a calculated risk, but in reality its like sitting at a poker table and the dealer says hey, we’ll give you $14k if you play, and if you keep playing you’ll probably make more but you might make nothing and never be able to play again. On the other hand, if you don’t take our $14k but come back tomorrow, you’ll for sure make $35k at minimum, and you can most likely keep playing after. In reality I’d rather pass a surefire 14 with a chance to make more, and wait a little for surefire 35 and a chance to make more.
Well - if that’s the plan then ride him into the ground these next two years and have a replacement ready for 2021.....lol
I fully expect Sam to be Rodgers level by week 4, the 3 week buffer because new offense chemistry. Any less would be an unacceptable disappointment. He was top level after his injury and went toe to toe with Rodgers week 16. You cannot decline
I think peope are forgetting how good this guy actually is because 1) he hasn’t played in a year and 2) all the contract disputing and the hold out left a sour taste in some mouths. Not sure if this was posted but I think Orlovsky is one of the best in the business. This break down is amazing.
"he spends 3.1 secs behind the line of scrimmage - most in the NFL" ... That's the scariest part of the Bell addition. If this line can't hold their blocks then its a wasted signing. Not to pee in anyone's cornflakes on a friday morning, just saying its a concern
