.5 mil a year difference between the 2. both similar players in type, age and stats. I wanted humpries personally but more then happy to add crowder to play the "kerley" like role here. You almost always overpay in free agency and the reality is crowder is a lot better of a WR as of now then tay, roberts (if we reisgn him), and peake and the jets really needed that number 3 guy. time to go draft a number 4 guy now and hope tay can become a quality depth WR or maybe strike gold with an UDFA type like we did with robbie
Humphries, at least, appears to have signed for less money annually than Crowder. 4 years, $36 mil with the Titans. No word yet on Tate or Williams
I stand corrected on this so far. Good news for the market of Bell, I'm sure he was waiting for a guy like Humphries to get a 14mil+ deal so he could point to it as confirmation of his worth.
Again, let's look at the guarantees before we make any solid conclusion. And honestly, all I care about are the cap hits. Let's say it's $17 mil gtd over the first two years but you're pushing a couple mil of that into random bonuses. That's makes his cap hit somewhere in the $6 mil range with minimal dead money in that third year.
I think I'm okay with this? From everything I've seen on Twitter he looks like a solid slot option and 17 mil. guaranteed isn't hurting us.
Would be interesting to see. Might be 12,9,6 over the next 3 which would be great considering robbie is on a cheap tender. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
looking at this list and seeing the ages of these free agents makes me realize how fortunate we really are to have landed Crowder. When you look at the other players that are comprable in age they are far removed in talent. I would say that John Brown is the closest and he is four years his senior.
Breshad Perriman showed flashes late with Baker Mayfield, dude can fly down the field ... might be worth a look
I'd take a shot on Funchess if he comes for close to nothing on a one-year deal. You can't teach height. Also what they said about Stephen Hill... but regardless...
I like the signing. Crowder is a good slot receiver, my only concern is with his health. He's had some injury problems and missed a lot of time, hopefully he can put those in the rear view. A good start to free agency, but more offensive pieces are needed.
The Jets way overpaid at $9 million a year. For example, is he hree times better than someone like Willie Snead (who signed with the Ravens last year for $7 million for 2 years)? Or look at someone like Edelman, who might be a Hall of Famer, who signed last year for $11 million for 2 years.
edelman is a bad example as he is one who took a "hometown discount" to stay a pat. he could have gotten more money. Snead had inflated stats his 1st 2 years from the saints/brees, got phased out in year 3, and really didn't do much with the ravens all things considered. gotta look at the whole picture for this year and the market and based on humpries contract i'd say it was a fair deal for both and i expect many on that list to get more
