I think this goes for a lot of draft picks too. I don't know who amongst us watches East Central Iowa State games but somebody is going to be demanding we draft their RG because of something they goggled.
1. Monken 2. Carmichael 3. Matt Campbell (sigh) 4. Eric Bieniemy 5. Kris Richard (if he brought in a super strong OC) 6. McCarthy 7. Gase 8. Everyone else
True. I feel like I can give a pretty good opinion on a first round pick but after that I usually have no idea. It does annoy me when we use all our mid round picks on 25 year olds, though.
I want an offensive minded HC. Someone that will get the best out of SD and will be innovative enough on offense to keep us consistent winners. All I care about. However. Its easier for me to list who I dont want. Short list. Jim Caldwell Adam Gase Good day.
I watched the QBs for years waiting for Sam and whilst doing so I saw a lot of good players but a guy like Allen or some of the mid round OLineman? Much less the 5-7th round guys? But dudes will be arguing their cases based off of Draft guides. If you haven't seen the player, please don't call someone an idiot for opining on a player that neither of you have seen.
It's way, way easier to talk about HC candidates that we'd pass on. There's also a ton of candidates to choose from, and I'd bet that most of us (if not all) don't know every single candidate that well. On top of that, it's really difficult to predict how a former HC might incorporate (or not) the lessons from their last gig, much less how coordinators or college coaches might perform in their first HC gig. Unless the candidate has a track record of failure, or runs an inflexibly out-dated offensive/defensive scheme, then I'm down. (Not like we've got much choice anyways...) There's a bunch of criteria that I'd like to see in the next Jets HC, like a creative offensive scheme, something uptempo. For me, I'd really enjoy watching them run a balanced no-huddle or muddle-huddle offense. A big part of that is drafting players that actually fit the scheme. McCagnan has to be willing to go out there and draft/sign the FAs that match the O/D scheme. Really hoping that Chris Johnson (and McCagnan) find someone that they can work with.
Rodgers is an ungrateful asshole, he should be thanking McCarthy for putting in seasons to develop him. Have you seen Rodgers preseason as a rookie? It was awful. He will develop Sam properly, and Sam is more humble as a player IMO doesn't have the attitude Rodgers has. Think about it, Rodgers wants Joe Philbin to coach the team.
I agree, he's got a proven track record of developing QBs... he developed one of the best we'll ever see. I meant more on the team results end. And I know the front office did close to nothing to help him but he's far from absolved of all blame.
If we hire McCarthy, fans will turn on him rather quickly IMO, because he has game managing issues. I am willing to look the OTHER way (depending on the situation) if he hires a good DC. He will develop Sam, spend plenty of time w/ him coaching him up. No coach in this league is perfect. But hey if he gets us in the playoffs 9 out of 13 years w/ 1 SB, I will take it no questions asked.
Yea of course. I sign up for that in a heartbeat. Also you can bet your balls Cobb signs with us if McCarthy is here.
He's had to work with a very difficult QB in Rodgers and may not want to be stuck with another difficult personality in Baker
Both bullshit articles . Chris Johnson said very directly in his Dad 31 press conference that he will meet with Darnold and discuss the next coach and get Darnold's opinion, but Darnold would no be in on the interviews. Which he shouldn't be.
