Mangini should get it, but we all know Payton from NO will get it.

The saints have won 2 COY awards before.. the Jets have NONE! Not like that will make a difference, but for a change, it would be damn nice to have a Jet coach finally win one. It's been long overdue. I think that for the situation that we were in w/ all the injuries, question marks, etc.. we are exceeding expectations and playing better than anyone could have imagined. NO has some TOP talent on their team and now have a couch that could finally make something of it. both are great arguments for coach of the year, but I think that if we make the playoffs, especially if we run the table.. mangini is a lock.

Not to mention that the AFC is undeniably more competitive than the NFC.

If the jets make the playoffs, and win a game or 2, mangini will get it. remember, the saints may have been bad last year but they brought in Brees and Reggie Bush, along with the guys they already had from last year i.e. a healthy deuce, and joe horn...The jets werent supposed to be anything with "nobody"...mangini deserves it more.

my point exactly.. unless we have a major meltdown, which i don't see happening.. i think mang is in good contention. good point about the AFC competitiveness compared to the NFC.. it should have an impact.

Whichever team goes further in the playoffs will win COY.

That will probably be the Saints.

I think they vote before the playoffs. Not sure about that, but that's how it works in baseball.

That seems weird to vote before the playoffs. But on the other hand I suppose it gives coaches who have done a good job and not made the postseason a chance.

A hooded sweatshirt, OR probably better yet one of those "plasticy" warmup shirts is probably better. That's what he wears all the time.

I like the idea. It is going to be a dogfight for COY between Mangini and Payton. Jets are only 1 game behind, but have a real good chance to overtake if not tie the Saints in their record by the end of the year. I didn't expect much from the Saints this year, but it really doesn't come as that big a surprise they are succeeding.

also look at our QB situation going into TC, Chad was a huge question mark, Martin and our RB situation was unclear, and Mangini himself being soooooo young with no prior HC experience at any level coming in, and right now we're at 7-5 and in playoff contention, should we not have a melt down, Mangini should win....

It's obvious if the Jets finish the season on a strong note (like getting into the playoffs), then Mangini deserves it. Hell, he deserves it already for doing this with a team that "should be in last place in the AFC East".

But I have a feeling the NO Coach will. I mean don't get me wrong, NO is doing good, but I just feel Mangini truly deserves it more. Hell, he's a rookie (as far as head coaching goes), AND he's the youngest coach in the league.

My opinion is if the Jets make the playoffs he IS the coach of the year hands down.

There was no optimism this year for the Jets at all in the pre-season. At least the media had Bush in New Orleans and Brees has always been a pretty killer QB (alibeit) he was coming off of injury.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if SB was Jets vs Saints!! LOL

hey i'd sign up for that right now haha

But anyway, i really believe that Mangini deserves it more than Sean Payton.....no question he would deserve it if this was any other year, but what Mangini is doing with us right now is pretty amazing. Hey if us or the saints tank during the next 4 games (don't see it happeneing with either) then this discussion won't mean alot in a month
