http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/don_banks/12/04/draft.redo.part1/index.html He has the Jets taking Leinart with the 4th pick!? cmon man...take a look at some games before you do something stupid like this, this is a dumb article. I'm perfectly happy with D'Brick at 4.
Don Banks is moving onto the "Pete Prisco Idiot List" for me in a double-time hurry this season. He decided the Jets were going to be terrible in February and they are becoming the Iraq War to his Bush, he just can't wrap his mind around the possibility he could have been wrong, even when all the evidence suggests he was. So here he is in December suggesting that the Jets should have taken the guy who would have led them to the 3-13 he thought was coming. That's how you get on my idiot list.
Very dumb article. He prefaces it by saying it is all based on production thus far and has nothing to do with potential, yet he lists Cutler ahead of all season starters Brick, Ryans, Williams, Bush, etc. Did he see the ONE game the guy has played this year....
This might be the worst concept for an article ever. I mean, doing something like this outside the context of a draft would be pretty reasonable(if premature) but the way this guy has done it is just moronic.
The article is Prisco-esque in the way it mixes fantasy with questionable facts and then uses the two elements to arrive at unsupportable conclusions. As an example: The Jets should have taken Leinart to be the franchise QB but Arizona really needed the left tackle in order to stabilize their line. This despite the fact that the Jets allowed 8 more sacks on 200 less pass attempts than Arizona last year. In other words the Jets really needed to draft Leinart to get sacked 70 times this year... ROFLMAO.
The scattershot nature of this article is surreal. The guy gives the Bills Donte Whitner at 26, taking them to task for drafting him "way too early" while earlier he gleefully gave the Saints Colston at #2 when they drafted him in the 7th round. He then says the Browns should've taken Mangold because they lost their "top shelf FA center" to injury in training camp. Makes sense. The Hester and Gostkowski write ups are laughable as well. The Vikings are so laden with talent they can spend a mid first round pick on KR to block him from going to a division rival. My favorite though is where he gives the Bengals a DE saying something to the effect of it will help the lousy secondary. When their original pick was a CB.
What an idiot. He has the Broncos taking Maroney at 11 when their plan for this season was clearly to replace Plummer. I stopped reading after that. Dumbest thing I've read in a real long time.
look, the guy is a jerk and hates the Jets...but he's trying to equate value. His problem is that he overrates Leinart. Prior to the draft I did suggest trading out of the #4 spot and moving down and using one pick on McNeil - who has turned out to be a horse, and the other pick on Kameron Wimbley as out 3-4 OLB/DE. That also meant we have Mangold.
That may have been the dumbest thing I've ever read. We are all now stupider for reading that article.
how is Reggie Bush ahead of all those other RB's? This draft literally makes no sense, i cant figure out his basis for half his picks
