It looked like he rolled on his ankle yesterday (a sprain) and was hobbling about. I figured he'd be sidelined and iced up, but then I saw him play out the rest of the game. Anyone hear of any reports this morning on his ankle?
Nothing, but I did come across a blurb in Newsday today, where he complained of 2 chop blocks by the RT, one of which caused the injury. You noticed that he was markedly slower after the hit, especially when he was trying to race towards the sidelines. No news is good news right now, I guess...
You could tell he was pissed after the injury, yelling at the O-linemen and such. The most emotion I've seen from the guy in years. Haven't heard any updates on the injury either...
He tried having some afters with the guy who did it after the game. But if you noticed he tried to chase down favre and just gave up. I would think he will be very questionable , should have pulled him off straight away.
http://www.nypost.com/seven/12042006/sports/jets/thomas_new_deal_pays_off_jets_mark_cannizzaro.htm DE Shaun Ellis had to be restrained from going after Packers RT Tony Moll at the end of the game on his way off the field. Ellis was furious about a cut block Moll threw on him after he'd been beaten on a play earlier in the game after which Ellis limped off the field yelling at Moll. "It's part of the game, but it's dirty," Ellis said. "I got upset about it."
I thought it was a bit odd that he was still on the field after we appeared to have the game in hand. I've rolled my ankle and it's a bitch. It requires ice immediately or else it blows up and takes a lot longer for the swelling to diminish. He wasn't nearly as effective after the sprain, so I think somebody on the sidelines screwed up and should have made Mangini immediately aware of the injury, to get him out of there. Perhaps it was just a minor thing, but he looked like he was hobbling around quite a bit.
Anyone notice that nobody was attending to him or paying him attention when he went to the sideline? If thats my player hes laying down on a table getting iced and stretched by trainers. Not arguing him going back out, but the initial reaction by the staff was pretty half assed in my opinion.
This is what I'm talking about. The guy was clearly inneffective on the next several plays, so even if the game weren't just about a gimme, put fresh meat in there anyway and wrap the foot in one of those ice-things that looks like a snow boot.
I agree, why the take the chance of making the injury worse by keeping him out there. We were up by 28 points, so put in anyone else and make sure Ellis keeps himself healthy.
one article - i think the daily news said he took a shot to the groin -- not sure if they can tape that up
i remember Ellis getting chopped and taking a helmet in the nuts at the same time...it didnt look pleasant
too me it looked like a dirty shot......Ellis jumped and they guy looked like he went @ the knee.....he was prob mad @ gettin beat all day by Shaun LOL....but u can tell Shaun was pissed @ him :finssuck:
I was at the game yesterday - stayed till the very end - our seats were above the tunnel where the Jets entered and left the field - as they were walking off - one of the guys in front of me yelled 'Hey Shaun, are you ok' - he shook his head that yes he was -
Ellis is one of those sleeping giants who you wake at your own peril. I was glad to see him get a bit beatup on Sunday because I'm guessing he's going to be playing pissed off for the next couple of weeks. Monster game against the Bills is my guess, with a couple of Losman sacks.
