Hey guys I didn't see this posted yet. Over on ESPN.com Michael Smith says we'll make the playoffs: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/lastcall?page=lastcall/week13&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos2

I know its way too early to count us in, but it is nice to see some positive press for the Jets.

Man, how sweet would it be to tie with the Chiefs and then advance over them for the playoffs?!

Seeing the look on Herm's face would be PRICELESS

If you make the playoffs over the Chiefs it will make this season all the more sweet. I'm still blown away with the success this team is having. If the Jets make the playoffs, Mangini better get some serious consideration for Coach of the Year. Although I think a lot of people are going to look at Payton in New Orleans.

Payton has done a great job in New Orleans, and I know that is the feel-good pick. New Orleans got screwed last year with not having a home and thats the only reason they finished so poorly (as they had pretty good talent). During last season and the offseason, we had massive injuries, our QB had his second RT surgery, we had to trade our best pass rusher, lost our Hall of Fame running back, and no one predicted us to win more than 3 games this year. We were supposed to be the "easy" win on everyone's schedule. Yet we've come out and almost beat the Colts (DAMMIT) and the Bears, while beating the Pats for the first time in 4 years. We have a winning record despite a defense that continues to give up over 100 yards rushing per game, a offense with no "superstar", and a coach who is only 35. Mangini deserves the coach of the year ALREADY, and its proven by guys like cotchery and thomas doing big things and wanting to stay with the Jets for the future. Everyone outside of the locker room thought the players didn't like Mangini, but it is exactly the opposite. Mangini has these guys believing and they would go to war for him.

not that this matters (I can't stand the guy), but add Salisbury to the list; he said it on Mike and Mike this morning.

the thing is, as soon as we drop one game, everyone will doubt us once again. we need to keep winning and surge right into the Playoffs.

    cheers

Adding to that, we need to win out or we WON'T make the playoffs.

It looks like there will easily be 3 10-6 finishers. We need to finish 11-5.

What 2 teams, besides the jets, do you see easily being 10-6?

Does this mean we don't have to play the rest of the month now?

When do we get the letter from the NFL?

Two 10-6 finishers. Jets and Broncos.

You haven't looked at the schedules if you believe this. 10 wins would definitely be enough. The other four 7-5 teams have tough schedules and in several cases have to play each other. Even 9 wins may be enough depending....

I hope we do make the playoffs just so this team can keep on learning. But im impressed with how this season has gone and im very content with where we can be next season.

I beleive we will finish 10-6, that may not be enough but I will be proud of the team anyhow after the debacle of last season.

Cincinnati and Jacksonville could both finish 10-6 along with the Jets which would bump the Jets if their loss was not to Minnesota.

The scary thing is that the Jets would also lose a 3 way tie at 11-5 to Cincinnati and Jacksonville. If all 3 teams win out the Jets miss out.

I'm a sick bastard. It would be awesome to see KC LOSE to finish 10-6, JAX 9-7. We are at 9-6 and WIN and KC can't back in.. a Herm specialty :)

I agree, but I can easily substitute the Bengals for the Broncos. IMHO, its either going to be the Bengals or Broncos being 10-6. KC and Jax just have brutal schedules the rest of the way.

    That's real sick!

I'd love advancing over them via a tiebreaker BUT I'd love to be more comfortable going into the last week ;)

One thing Mangini won't do is back into the playoffs- these boys will earn it.
