Fans make excuses to justify to themselves why they waste time and money on this awful team. As for the organziation, they have to keep making excuses so they can keep marketing this mess to the masses. The Jets are so bad that even the league can't rig a few wins for them to help them out.
Only even less sprinkles then usual lately. No playoffs in 8 years. This is a bad drought even by Jets standards. Time for another regime change.
Sadly you are correct. The easiest way to see if something isn't working is by the results produced.. If doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is insanity, then its time for our new owner to stop being a fan and become an owner. If that is too much for him, hire a President of Football Ops to do the job. Its past time for the New York Jets to get serious about winning in a major market. If they are tired about being second to the Giants, now would be a damn good time so show it..
How about this. Sadly I saw more of Leonard Williams on a Visa commercial watching the Cardinal / Viking game than I did watching the Jets / Browns game.
Not excuses, just analysis: Edit: Oh lol OP was posting about Miami. Well, this is about Cleveland: The bad: * OL (Part 1): TFLs. 8 or 9 of them by Cleveland because of our backs getting hit in the backfield. Some of that is on the big boys, left side of the line especially. * OL (Part 2): Didn't seem to handle the defensive stunts and pickups well in pass protection. * OL (Part 3): Cleveland's front 7 is quite good, with Myles Garret specifically a monster, so I don't expect perfection here. But this was p. shit. * Playcalling (Part 1): One-dimensional solution to Cleveland's pass rush (running left, at Myles Garret, some? ok, but there needs to be more to it. It got a bit ridiculous there). Where are the traps, counters, etc. Some misdirection, play action, hell, even a draw play. * Playcalling (Part 2): Lack of plays down the field. I know the pass rush is an issue, but we've ostensibly got a decent deep threat at receiver. Some classic go-routes or skinny posts with play-action? WCO is more about vertical spread, but we might have pushed them into more nickel/dime packages with a 15-20-yard completion or two. * Robby Anderson fumbles. Again. And doesn't contribute much as a receiver. He's been very disappointing this season, though I do wonder if some of that is him not fitting in with Bates' scheme well. * Sam Darnold. The pass rush got to him, and he was often working with unfavorable down and distance or field position. He had some great "little" plays getting the ball out against a nasty rush, but he also had a few where he had time but didn't plan his feet, resulting in lesser velocity/ball placement than he's capable of. The second INT was into pretty blatant double-coverage, as well. (I'd have to re-watch the first to get an idea of the throw-quality there.) Cleveland has a good pass rush, and this is the first time I've really felt like the game looked a little too fast for him. He wasn't getting a ton of help, either, but some of this is absolutely on him. Yes he's a rookie, no I don't expect perfection, but gotta acknowledge the faults are there. * Both Trumaine Johnson and Morris Claiborne got torched by Antonio Callaway at times. As it was the damage was relatively contained, there were a few deep balls to him that were misplaced by the Browns QBs that could have been devastating. It didn't come up this week as badly as it could have, but it scares me for the future. The Good: * Jamal Adams is as advertised and improving on his rookie year quickly. * Quincy ****ing Enunwa. * Some low-key great blocks by Jermaine Kearse on the Quincy-screens. * LB Corps (both ILB and OLB) did a great job, especially in the first half. * Powell kept looking great when he wasn't getting hit in the backfield. * Jets Special Teams is *exponentially* better than in 2017 so far. Actually making game-changing plays for the better.
