If there was ever a time not to play Cleveland, it's now. They seem to be close and lord knows that streak is going to end eventually. And we're the Jets, no stranger to being f*cked over by the football gods regularly and often And Tyrod Taylor can actually move. Better than Tannehill I have the worst feeling about this game
It's possible. Also possible the Jets dominate and Win like Week 1 in Detroit. It certainly won't be easy and I bet the Browns open as the favorites.
The Jets have one big advantage (Darnold is way better than Taylor, even after two games of NFL experience) and one small one (as bad as the Jets coaching staff is, the Browns coaching staff is worse). The problem is that usually the second advantage is much bigger for their opponents, but not so much this time. Browns will probably be favord by about 3 points because they're at home.
Hahahaha!!! I'd love to see Vegas put a team that 's 0-18 since the start of 2017 as a favorite against anyone. They ain't stupid or crazy. And yes this is a dangerous game for the Jets for many reasons. Still the Browns are the Browns.
For those playing along at home the Browns have a pretty good defense and had the Browns had a kicker today the Saints would be ohh and 2
You just never know with the Jets. No game is in the bag and they could beat virtually any team that is seemingly better than them on any given Sunday (Monday, Thursday, or Saturday). I personally would never bet for or against them.
Is there any doubt we'll be the ones that will end the streak for Cleveland? That would be the most Jet-like thing the Jets could possibly do.
If we lose I fully expect Bowles to be fired at the end of the year barring a turnaround. I know it sounds dramatic, but losing that game could be the difference between 5-11 or 6-10. If their record doesn't improve after 3 years its time to move on from Bowles.
Their best hope is that the sting from today won't have worn off by Thursday and they'll come out mad.
And if they're going to fire him, why wait until the end of the season? Unless there's no good alternatives available. Why let him possibly screw up their future with Darnold? Really, they just need to face reality and move on.
Because I dont think they will be necessarily out of games for the rest of the season. If we got blown out from week 4 onwards then that would be different, but we will probably keep games close and not win them. We've proven to the league that we allow a coach to get his bearings before making a decision on firing him. I am sure we would be a much more desirable place to come to as we got our QB and have $100m in cap space. Its only week 2, but I can't deal with these moral victories anymore. We didn't lose the game because our QB is young, we lost them because the entire team screwed up in some way.
That's really the sensible approach no doubt. But if somehow a really good HC became available - no idea who that would be right now, but if one did become available, they should fire Bowles and hire the new guy now and let him start fixing things ASAP.
A 3-3 tie would be more in line with the quality of football we're going to see on Thursday. Can't imagine Bates putting up 17-points without contributions from the defense and special teams.
