I'm so excited about Sam's first game I have the jitters. I guess this comes from 53 years of being a Jets fan where good things happening to this team are few & far between. I don't expect him to be a world beater his first game, just show poise and don't make stupid mistakes. A lot of how he plays will have to do with the OL. My biggest fear is he will be under extensive pressure from Falcons defense and won't be given a chance to shine. If he can some how play well behind our OL I will be ecstatic. Then maybe he can play game 2 with the #1 offence. In short for your first game Sam, you don't have to be great, just don't be bad What are you expecting or hoping to see from Sam Friday vs. Atlanta?
500 yards, 4 TDs and and two successful flea-flickers - otherwise Teddy should start. (Really, I'm not expecting anything)
the gitters take all the goy out of watching the Gets. Buy yourself a Sam gersey, have some gerk chicken and chill. G.....E.....T.....S.......GETS GETS GETS!
It would be nice if he didn't make any glaring mistakes, just because the media and certain fans are retar blow preseason games out of proportion and wouldn't shut up about it for the whole week. But honestly, he's a rookie, get loose, enjoy your first taste of the NFL, don't get hurt. The MVP/SB expectations can wait until at least week 3.
If Sam doesn’t win a championship Friday night he is a bust and we will understand why the giants passed on him.
Yeah, I am excited to see how the entire rookie class looks. Darnold will be fun to watch, along with Nathan Shepherd, Chris Herndon, and Trenton Cannon. I assume Nickerson is out and haven't heard much about Fatukasi, but hopefully he shows something.
I just want him to gain a feel for the speed of the game on the next level, in order to help mentally prepare himself for his future moving forward. I'm looking to see a signal caller pre-snap who takes command of his huddle with confidence. Reading the defense. Calling for an audible. Communicating with his offensive line. Pretty much everything I seen him do @ USC. I just want him to gain confidence out there in order to do it on the next level. Failing to throw the ball away and taking a sack, an INT, over throwing an open receiver etc all of this is to be expected. I'm just excited to see our 3rd overall rookie Quarterback finally take the field in Green & White. Of course I'm anxious to see our young gun Franchise hopeful stand tall in the pocket, sling the football down field and deliver strikes. Roll out off a play action and connect to a WR/TE on the sidelines for a 1st down. Go deep off play-action or execute an HB/WR screen. But at the end of the day I'm 33. As a fan I've gotta act like I've been here before. And remind myself that this is only week one of a preseason game. I'm honestly not expecting too much. I just want for him to have fun out there, gain a feel for the speed of the game, show confidence as a leader at the L.O.S (poise will come with experience) and stay healthy.
Really pulling for DLs Fatty Fatumanski (UConn) and Nate Sheppard (Ft. Hayes St.). That and no green pants. .
Come on, @NCJetsfan! Those expectations are too high. 9 TD's, 1 incompletion (WR drop), and 850 yards, no interceptions or fumbles sounds more like it. Have to be realistic!
I hope he has a boring game, nothing bad but nothing spectacular. That'll take some pressure off him, and hopefully he'll ease into a really good rookie year.
Pretty sure my niece is more nervous. She’s getting married Friday night. Btw, trying to convince my sister-in-law to have a big screen TV tuned to the game but it’s not going well.
Well I am a Jets fan for only 10 years or so but I have the same jitters. Originally wasn't planning on going to the game but due to Sam I took Friday off and heading to Metlife to watch Sam live in his first game. Can't wait.
