Until the Jets win another Super Bowl (and are led to it by a superstar), it's going to be Joe Namath.

Two people...either Curtis or Maynard. I would go with Curtis just b/c he has better numbers in comparison to the rest of the NFL at his position all-time.

Joe Namath has provided us with our greatest memory (to date).
Curtis Martin is the greatest Jet, based on his talent on the field and his attitude off of it. You'd want your son to be a Curtis Martin in life. Namath? ("Who cares about the team...I just wanna kiss you.")
Namath was brash, Martin is humble. Namath wore panty hose...Martin doesn't.
All kidding aside...Martin's childhood, and the adversity he overcame to get where he is is an unbeleivable story in itself. Martin probably wouldn't be alive today if he didn't play football. Namath just woulda been a coal miner.

You could make a damn good case for Maynard.

I just can't vote for Curtis, he was a Patriot for some time and I didn't like him. It tarnishes him a little.

Has to be Curtis for me. Yes he was a patriot for a while but he will be remembered in Green and all his best days came for the Jets. For me he is a player any young kid should aspire to be like. And above all that he was an amazing player as well.

I never saw Broadway play, bit before my time and I never choose my fave all time players on something i never witnessed. Although i thank the gods that he brought us that win :)

Joe Namath followed by Hill, Klecko and Powell. Over 50 years to have two names on a poll and not even include one of our HOF players is in itself a sign of a total lack of knowledge regarding this franchise.

Okay, I missed Maynard. But I was thinking of those two because in different eras they were the face of the team. btw - it hasn't been 50 years yet

Maybe he's including when we were the Titans? I don't know what year that franchise offically started.

We started in 1960. The Franchise was formed on August 14, 1959. But I have very little knowledge of our football team so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

Sorry I jumped you. Most of the people on this board didn't even see Marvin Powell in his prime. Tough to get an honest call on this. Curtis is by far based on stats over a career the best Jet player. He was never close to the best running back in the league during his entire career. Their are several Jet players who were for at least 1 or 2 years in that argument.

I created a new poll that included more guys. I still think it will come down to Martin and Namath though.

For one season Martin was the best RB in the league (2004). However, Martin may have never been considered the best in the league because of the guys that were in the league were amazing backs. Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Terrell Davis to Ladanian Tomlinson, Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes. Over his career as a whole Martin was better -IMO- than Holmes, Davis, Emmitt and Shaun Alexander.

I don't agree that in 04 Martin was the best running back in the league, he wasn't even the best running back in NY. He got the most carries but you can make a strong argument that in 04 Alexander, Dillion, Barber and Tomlinson were all better than Martin.

Over his career the only back in the group that you can make an argument that Martin was better than is Holmes. Head to head Davis blew Martin off the field and won back to back SB, when your the best player on the field in consecutive SB, that's what the game is about. Emmit was clearly more productive than Martin.
