Colts coming on at right time Indy jumps San Diego for top spot; NFC falling fast Posted: Wednesday November 29, 2006 12:01PM; Updated: Wednesday November 29, 2006 7:37PM Before taping my weekly chalk talk with Brooklyn D. the swimming suitmodel, I encountered Andrew P., who sits in the director's chair for this epic, and he asked to take a look at my rankings chart. "I can't see one area of complaint this week," he said. "Just one," I said. "San Diego," he said. That's the one, all right, so let's clarify the reasoning right now. Last week the Chargers had just leapfrogged the Colts to take over the No. 2 spot, behind Chicago. With the Bears going down in Foxboro, the gold medal position was open, but guess what? Indy hopped up on top again. The Chargers had to overcome a blah day by Philip Rivers to overtake Oakland, while Indy was crushing Philly, and that will be my defense in court. Believe me, folks, I know what I'm doing, and each entry in the big ledger labeled Power Rankings is carefully weighed, measured and outfitted in the appropriate garment. ~ ~ ~ 14 16 New York Jets (6-5) I am intrigued by what Eric Mangini and his defensive coach, Bob Sutton, will cook up for Brett Favre in Lambeau. Personally, I wouldn't throw too many blitzes at him, but I would make Donald Driver, his security blanket, a target for a tight jam off the line, backed up by a safetyman. But a word of caution. Favre is having fun once again. I know this because I heard it from Dan Dierdorf and John Madden and Joe Theismann and Michael Irvin and Chris Berman and Tommy Jackson and James Brown and ... > http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/dr_z/11/29/ranks.part1/index.html
Favre is having a good year. Do not underestimate him. Most of the people are saying on the board how many INT's he's gonna throw and how we're gonna dominate him. But hes got an arm and he and driver are really in sync and dangerous. Don't underestimate the packers, especially at lambeau.
You have to respect Favre, as a relic of bygone days if nothing else, but he didn't look good at all when the Patriots dismantled the Packers 35 - 0. The Patriots run defense did their share to create half the shutout, but the Green Bay quarterbacks did as much to stop their passing game as the Patriot's defensive backfield.
i doubt it, I seriously doubt it. The Pack might not be world-beaters, but they are tough at home, real tough at home in december. Its going to be a hard fought game, and the elements might play a role. I think (hope) we win, but its gonna be a dog fight.
I'm confident that Mangoomba will not let the Jets waltz into Lambeau expecting to roll over the Packers. TBTF
Favre has thrown as many picks as Pennington I believe, and more td's. His completion percentage is not so hot though. I'd rather see lots of 3 and outs and a lifeless offense then a dangerous one with a pick or 2.
we need to be able to run the ball -- if we can run for over 125 we will be fine - score early and force the pack to be on dimensional -- that is when farve gets into trouble -- trying to force things
I'll tell you what... Favre has an awesome record at home in December. This game is a dangerous nail-biter.
