easy poll question, night and day between germ and mangini i have no doubt in my mind if herm were the coach right now chad would have been thrown under the bus by now for his slump with some rediculous herminism such as , "u know the qb has to throw the ball and hes just gotta keep throwing and right now were not winning because hes just no throwing good, thats why we run the ball to number 28 all the time because boy let me tell you something, 28, hes a special guy" I give him his due for overcoming the qb injury in k.c but please lets not forget what he and bradway did to our roster nor the fact that he won 4 and 6 games respectively in two seasons. Herm has a program in place that will be sussessful for a season or 2 but due to his only skill of motivating people but his adamanct desire to keep aging dinosaurs around and his conservative playcaling will inevitable ruin larry johnson's career.
Herm loved Chad, he was one of his "special guys." I don't think he would've been thrown under the bus and probably would've been named the starter before training camp even started. We would probably give up a game or 2 because he would start McCareiens and Barlow and never let young guys like Cotchery and Washington touch the ball until it was too late in the season.
Threads like these make no sense. Herm would obviously have made different signings, trades, draft picks. You can't compare.
This might be the worst written poll ever. Why not just list the number of wins rather then this jumble of dozens of numbers?
Let's be fair though...it's a little easier when the QB has to just turn around and hand the ball off to LJ who is in the prime of his career instead of on the downside like Curtis was when Chad went down.
Herm would have never drafted Brick and Mangold...maybe one, not both. No Brad Smith, no Leon Washington. And no Schott.
Damn, some of you still aren't over it are you? Just can't let go of Herm. I would have thought these sort of threads would not resurface, especially being that KC has a better shot at making the playoffs than we do at the moment. hmy:
at Cleveland 1:00 pm Sun 12/10 Baltimore 1:00 pm Sun 12/17 at San Diego 4:05 pm Sat 12/23 at Oakland 8:00 pm Sun 12/31 Jacksonville KC will go 2-3 in their last 5...Laugh at the Oakland pick, but that is their SuperBowl:up:
If Herm was our coach, we wouldn't have drafted Fergeson or Mangold. Chad would have been put on IR by week 6.
imma say 9,10, or 11 wins because herm edwards is the best head coach of all time.......(pause)... NOT!!!!!
This is the basic reason I think we would be no better than 3 wins right now. We would have traded our 2 #1 picks for a FG kicker and another TE, probably named Roger. Then we would have Jolley Roger and get beaten up bad by the Raiders at the end of the year. And all our QB's would have continued to get steamrolled this year. Oh, and yes, Vinnie would be here right now. Oops, I forgot. Abraham would be here getting $8.3 M for massaging his groin on the pine.
Any games we won within 1 score is a loss w/ herm as he would've been ultra-conservative and played not to lose. So, that leaves us at 1-10 (probably a stretch, probably more like 4-7ish). Good riddance herm.
Herm is not without his issues, and it was certainly time he left for a different environment. But the last I checked, KC was in a better position to make the playoffs then we are. And none of you can know what he would or wouldn't have done in the draft.
What would the record be under Herm? The question is mute because Ole Herm left on the first bus out of town at the first sign of trouble. He's no longer our problem. I'm just glad we have Mangini - a man with a plan who picks players who really DO play to win the game.
