I am too young to have ever seen him play, and video tape can only show you so much. Just how GOOD was Joe Namath? I mean, I understand that he was a tremendous leader, had incredible guts, and drew alot of attention to the game. But what kind of skills did he have? How strong was his arm? How accurate was he?
Not to be a jerk but there are a million threads on this already, it should probably be a sticky. Every couple of weeks people say he is overrated and the case is made for him. Do some searches and you'll get some real good information. I only saw him play live a couple of times late in his career, but have watched countless tapes of him and have read practically anything ever written about him. As for skills, strong arm, lightning quick release and very accurate especially on deep throws....
This good. "When we won the league championship, all the married guys on the club had to thank their wives for putting up with all the stress and strain all season. I had to thank all the single broads in New York." -Joe Namath
I asked the same question a while back hackett and got like 4 pages of great stories from some of the older guys....Im not sure if it was before everything got wiped out though...look it up, see if you find it, good stuff
