That really doesn’t make any sense. He’s trading veterans for high draft picks and not signing his free agents to pick money deals, which is what you do when you rebuild. He’s handing them the future. If anything, he’s screwing himself because he isn’t loading up for the few years he has left.
That offense is significantly less talented. It has got to piss Brady off that they are unloading players in his final years. I think its an ego thing, BB is still pissed they made him trade off Garappolo so he's gonna fuck with Brady and rebuild
Jet fans have been saying that every off season for the last 18 years. LOL Sorry to burst your bubble but "that offense" is basically the same one that beat the Falcons in the Super Bowl. Hell that offense didn't even have Gronk either. Please bring something more than hopes and dreams to the table if you want to talk about the demise of the Patriots. The reality is the are -re-loading and much as they do almost every year, doing better than most. They have 3 picks in the first 40 players taken and another 2 picks in the first 60, so yeah you right the the Pats off-season has been just awful.
They lost their starting LT, his back up, best HB, two best WRs and replaced them with no one. Oh yeah and they lost their best CB as well. You can’t possibly look at that offseason objectively and say it’s been a good offseason or even a decent one. It’s been the worst offseason of any team in the league.
The Pats have a reasonable collapse potential for next year based on talent drains and the fact that their two best players are both approaching retirement age in Brady and Gronk. TE's tend to wear down faster than other positions and Gronk is already injury-prone. The problem is that a collapse could be to 9-7 or something like that and still in the picture. If Brady is still Brady he puts a high floor on their season. If he's not, well the only thing that would save the Pats at that point would be a very productive draft.
They are going into the season with a 41 year old QB, a busted up TE contemplating retirement, a shitty offensive line, and little else in terms of talent around him. They better hope Brady is still Brady or it will be ugly. McDaniels is an idiot for not leaving
Wow, you really are a jets fan. LOL Best HB??? Really? Best two WR's ???LOL My god if Jet fans actually knew what was going on, they wouldn't be jet fans.
Right cause the HB that led the Patriots in carries, yards, TDs & ypa was not their best HB. Neither were the two WRs that had the most catches and yards on the team with one of them carrying them to the SB. At least I know about my team.
How old are you? Just curious because you seem really, really short sighted. You know that the WR's and HB you're talking about, are not the ones that were not the one's that actually won the Super Bowl the prior year? Those guys were injured for the most part and are coming back this season. You may know your team, but you clearly don't know shit about the Pats roster.
Agreed , it's not his MO, but he has gone against his MO in the past so I'll leave that possibility open a crack. I just think it's far more likely that he stays stands pat and lets the draft fall as is. Maybe he jumps 5-10 spots if there's a player they absolutely love, otherwise they are filling holes at T,LB,TE, and maybe WR.
the pats have actually been pretty bad at drafting over the years. What stud players do they really have from drafts?
Really? I thought you would be better than to parrot a feeble talking point that is easily dis proven. Since 2001, in the first round alone B.B. has picked 8 pro-bowlers, 3 solid starters, 2 busts and no pick in 12 and 09 as well as trading last years pick for Cooks. No GM in the league has come close to B.B.'s level of success with first round picks and that's with picking late in the first round as well. The rest of the Draft his picks fall in line with the average success rate of all NFL teams picking over the last 17 years. This notion that he drafts poorly simply doesn't pan out when you hold it up to the light.
going back to 2001? how about players that are still in the NFL (or would be) so lets say 2008 which is 10 years. 2008 1 Jared mayo - great pick rounds 2 -6 (6 picks they had an extra 3rd) all garbage 2009 1 no 1st but they had 4 2nd rounders and 12 picks overall. the only non busts edlemen (7th) Chung (2nd) butler (2nd) you gotta give them credit for edleman of course but they missed on half their 2nd rounders and still only got really 3 good players from 12 picks 2010 1 mcourty - great pick they had 12 picks but 4 were 7th rounders. this was a great draft though with gronk in the 2nd, hernandez in the (4th) was a steal if not for the whole murder thing and they got spikes. they drafted a punter in the 5th who was a bust and still missed on 8 of the 12 picks, but the 4 they got were really good so great draft 2011 1 solder - great pick above average LT had 8 picks the rest of the way (2 2nds and 2 3rds) got some role players in riddley vareen. mallet and dowingling were busts. not much outside of solder in this draft 2012 2 1sts chandler jones and hightower. both great picks the rest of their picks were busts including their 2nd and 3rd ronuders 2013 no 1sts but 2 2nds and 2 3rds. collins was a solid LBer pick, but the rest of the draft busts 2014 1st easley - bust pick the rest of the draft all busts outside of jimmy g and white who is a solid role player 2015 1st brown - decent pick the other 11 picks though, garbage 2016 no 1st, but a 2nd and 3 3rds. 9 total picks all garbage 2017 too soon to judge so in 9 drafts they did good in the 1st round 5 were great picks, 1 bust, 1 decent 3 years with no 1st but outside of the 1st round they've missed on a lot of picks. they had 14 2nd rounders and 14 3rd rounders and out of those 28 high picks only landed gronk, jimmy g, chung, butler and collins. 5 out of 28 good picks on those high rounds. if you look at the last 4 judgeable drafts (2013 to 2016) no probowl 1st rounders, only 2 1st round picks (1 bust, 1 decent) they really only got 2 good players with colling and brown and they arne't probowlers or great picks. there is a reaosn NE is often seen as "udertalented" and winning because brady and billichick. His earlier drafts were better which ledt to the 3 SB wins in the early 2000s, but lately he's been pretty off the mark. especially the last 4 years. after 2011 his drafts have went really downhill. 2010 was his last "great draft" and the only one left from it on their team is gronk. nobody good is left from his 2011 draft.
Oh, so you want to cherry pick to fit that lame narrative? Please, Tom Brady Richard Seymour Matt Light Danial Graham Deon Branch Ty Warren Esante Samuel Dan Koppen Vince Wilfork Ben Watson Logan Mankins Jerod Mayo Matt Slater Julian Edlman Devin McCourty Rob Gronkoski Nate Solder Shane Vereen Chandler Jones Donta Hightower Jamie Collins Jimmy Garoppalo And those aren't counting the role players and contributors, but sure your right B.B. doesn't know what he's doing when he has to pick at the back end of each round. LOL Please the Jets have been picking in the top 15 for the last 20 years and can't come close to the talent the Pats have fished out of the draft.
it's not cherry picking. drafts from the last 5 years are what is filling out your roster. I said bellichick did great in the early 2000s to about 2011 but it's been pretty downhill after that. If brady and bellichick both retired today, do you think anyone would be calling them a playoff team? look at their roster right now, it's not very good and that's due to the poor drafting in recent years. out of your whole list only 3-4 players on still on their team. If mac had the same drafts bellichick had the past 4 years, many here would be calling for his head.
he's a great coach who gets the best out of his players. literal nobodies have made huge plays in big games because he puts them in a great position. many good NE players went on to be not much after. Bellichick is a great coach, just not a great talent evaluator for the draft
