I disagree, giving up high first round picks for disasterous play, is not worth it. Maybe we get lucky this draft, and get a QB that sticks.
IMHO Mark was developing slowly and steadily But that brutal hit and couple others changed it all There was a point I felt Sanchez was equal to Manning It was brief but I roasted all my giant friends about it- mark was inon par with Eli, if not for a brief moment I’ll always feel that way
That isn't really a fair statement at all. One hit can change any player and it happens all of the time. Is anyone going to tell me that Theisman wasn't a good QB until that ONE eency, weency hit? Remember that one where his shin bent in half!? After all, if this one little hit could end his career he had no business in the NFL, right? Or how about Chrebet? He was very sure handed until he took a brutal head hit that began him down the road of concussion problems. It changed him a lot and eventually his career. So there's two examples and I didn't really put in any effort. I have no doubt that if I looked more closely at NFL player histories I would find hundreds of examples of good players done in by one bad hit. Someone plants a leg at the wrong moment, or the wrong way, or get rolled over, and it is easy to tear a person's knees apart. So if the NFL refused to play people whose careers might be changed by a single hit the field would be empty.
When Von Miller destroyed Sanchez, it was murder live on TV. I forgot about the Eagles hit too. He was playing with a shit supporting cast all year too.
I heard an interview of Willie Colon on ESPN radio about 6 mos ago, and he said Rex never should have told Sanchez to play in that Snoopy Bowl game in which he got hurt. He said Sanchez was not expecting to play and was not mentally ready, but like any player, never complained and just went in as he was told. I think that was the last game Sanchez played for the Jets.
I think it was the Brandon Moore butt fumble hit that ruined Sanchez. Nobody ever mentions Timmons hit. But I can't go 2 weeks on the NFL channel without them showing it.
I agree that night game vs the Ravens and Mangold was out for the game and they signed some center off the street. Sanchez took a beating that game. He always played scared after that and was never the same.
Equal to Manning????? Please. You didn't specify which Manning. You seem to imply Eli, but even Eli would be a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE stretch. Peyton is just downright laughable.
ill start by saying i couldnt stand sanchez. and i was probably harder on him than i should have been. but i was consistent and didnt like him from day 1. there was one point where i said oh hey this guy might be able to do something, it was in 2010 iirc. and then it kind of fell apart right after. i want to say it was after the browns or texans game. he had played pretty well and led some game winning drives. he always had happy feet and made scared decisions, he did that pretty consistently, once he started getting beat on it really amplified and he just couldnt ever pull it back together. everyone wanted him to be great so badly that this place literally went nuts over him, there was a contingent of my qb guys that were going to live and die with him and they died with him. most of them dont even post here anymore.
Sanchez just didn't have the talent to live up to his draft status. He was a flawed, but serviceable, quarterback who did a good job for the Jets his first two seasons when he was surrounded by very good players. To his credit, he did help give us one of the best wins in Jets' history by beating New England in the playoffs.
Hahah I was at this game in Baltimore. It was a sack fumble td for the ravens and we lost that game like 38-7 I think. We got destroyed and never recovered.
