I will apologize in advance to the rest of you here for this posting and if the Mods need to move or delete it that's fine by me, though I will try to make this a bit more Jets related. Anyway, my question for Champ is if he's ever going to acknowledge our bet and pay up? I've PMd him and tried to bring it up in other threads, even bumped the original thread yet like any FACT he ignores it's existence. Since I have asked him to donate my whopping $20 winnings to Petro for the board I wanted to make one more attempt to get him to pay up. For those of you who are wondering what the bet was about we bet that the Chiefs' fans would be calling for Herm's head by week 8. Me being not only a Herm fan but a realistic fan told him that I would bet that they wouldn't. Being that I knew who I was betting with I even clarified that I was not betting that they would be praising Herm and thinking he was the best HC ever, just that they wouldn't be calling for his head. To make this more Jets related, let me state that while I am still a fan of Herm I am a fan of the Jets first. I didn't want Herm to leave but think in the end it worked out best for both sides. Right or wrong some people couldn't get over Herm being hired and/or got tired of his coaching style. No need to re-hash the whole debate since he's gone and we have Mangini now. With Mangini we get a young, up and coming coach who is probably going to make quite a few mistakes (i.e. the onsides kicks against the Bears) but is also making them (as most head coaches do) in an attempt to improve the team. We also have someone who's youth might just be a blessing because even if what he's not doing is new he's trying to put his own unique spin on it and is able to add a new perspective that someone who has more experience might not see because they are more set in their ways. Anyway, Here is the thread that has the details for those who are interested: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=295&page=8
Jesus. This guy is like the dental pain of the internet. No matter what he sahys or doesnt say, people just can't lay off him. Give it a rest homes. The fate of the free world doesn't hang in the balance.
What are you talking about? He made a bet and now isn't paying up. Come on champ don't be a weasel. Cash in some of those penny stocks and send 20 bills to Petro...
You have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden being invited to the White House for Christmas dinner than Champ paying up.
I think champ should definitely pay up...I also think that wayyyy to many people on this board are infatuated with champ...Im not sayin you bigdog because a bet is a bet no doubt...but some people on this board cant even let a typo by champ go without making it a federal case...its getting silly
dunno, champ has a way of sort of getting a little too personal with some of his posts...and therefore makes himself a lightining rod for criticism.... it doesn't seem to bother him too much, so it shouldn't bother anyone else either... and he should pay up.... perhaps the bet should have been placed with burninhellwoody instead.....
No offense to anyone, but this is a really dumb thread. How can anyone demand payment on a bet that is impossible to prove? Maybe some KC fans are happy - maybe some are not. Heck, there has been plenty of Herm bashing here when he was getting us to the playoffs. I'm sure you are both right to some extent, but I think after nearly a year this nonsense should be dropped.
For what it's worth, my old college roomate is from KC. Season ticket holder. They LOVE Herm... the slow start was blame on OL woes... Green's injury, etc. Champ should pay up.
The fact that he has seen this thread and not even acknowledged it is disturbing. The bet itself is a crazy bet, because it's too out there as far as determining a winner. My guess is Champ is hoping KC loses the next couple of games, then some anti-Herm article pops up, then Champ posts it & adds that the anti-Herm stuff started in week 8, but that in his HO he forgot where he saw it....in his HO.
welsh /wɛlʃ, wɛltʃ/ –verb (used without object) Informal (sometimes offensive). 1. to cheat by failing to pay a gambling debt: You aren't going to welsh on me, are you? 2. to go back on one's word: He welshed on his promise to help in the campaign. TBTF
Everytime there is talk about paying up he evaporates like water in a sauna. He was on a considerable amount today, but I think no one remembered to say anything. Trying to get him to admit to being wrong about anything is the most slippery slope you can try to climb though. Good luck.
I sent u a PM that you never replied to whiich was psot where I lost a bet to you & I would pay up immediately. Since you are on the very wrong side of the Herm issue I do not see how I could lose a wager to you. Kindly post the evidence not a allegation that I was the loser
This seems like a pretty tough bet to judge. Early in the year after they lost by 40 to the Steelers to drop to 2-3 I remember stuff being posted about how unhappy some KC fans were with Herm. Whether they were "calling for his head" or not seems up to your own interpretation.
You remember hearing that b/c there were threads on here about it w/o information. I remember a thread that said the media was bashing Herm and all it was was a collection of Herm quotes from his PC. Show some concrete proof that fans were grumbling not just using threads from this anti-Herm site.
I really don't care enough to look. There were definitely links posted to Chiefs messageboards though with posters complaining about Herm. As I said before though a bet like this seems almost impossible to resolve.
