“All Mayfield does is throw screen passes.”

*Josh Allen tries to throw a screen pass*

No offense to McCown, but of the 6-7 QB's that have been under his "tutelage" not one has been successful. IMHO it's not because he isn't a good teammate, it's because the "mentor" thing is overrated. QB's will succeed or fail on their own ability, the system in place, and the talent around them.

Count..me as a big time supporter. I watched him a couple of tomes during the year and was impressed by his physical skills. He didn't have a particularly good game. I watched him in his bowl game and he was good. I watched him at the Senior Bowl and he was really good in all the practices and finally in he was terrific. He's one of the top 3 QB's available and I think that's why the Jet's made the trade. I would be happy Darnold, Rosen or Allen in any particular order. I believe the Brown's will take Darnold, I believe the Giants stay put and take Allen and the Jets get Rosen.

I think the Browns are the only team in the NFL that could justifiably take Saquon Barkley on the #1 overall. That team and fan base have been so downtrodden over the years that a spark of excitement attached to a great offensive talent, followed by a FQB pick at #4 might be the tonic the doctor ordered. Obviously they'd rather get the QB they want most on the #1 and then Barkley on the #4 but that's an iffy proposition.

    Saw that interview live..
Favre a decent comparison.. Allen is a tough ass farm boy, a gunslinger who will throw harder than needed at times, and a guy who absolutely loves the game. Teammates and coaches will love him.

So his head coach, who will be using his name in reference to draft status to recruit for the next however many years he coaches there, compared him to a HOF QB at his Pro Day?

    Sign me up!!!!

    Convincing 10/10 would watch again.

I think it was more a comparison of a comparison trying to explain the difference between Allen and Wentz. Allen is to Wentz as Favre is to Manning. Both very good while very very different.

Yes, I remember vividly all of those times that Peyton would extend plays with his athleticism.

If they guy plays well, he'll get Kirk Cousins money, which will be average starting QB salary in 5 years. He's also an adult, and does not have to listen to Mommy and Daddy. I'm sure they're well off, but surgeon rich & NFL QB rich are two completely different things.

I don't see it as an issue. Most former football player analysts don't see it as an issue. It's a narrative that people who want Mayfield or Allen are running with.

Mayfield has had at least 2 concussions as well. Allen has a surgically repaired clavicle (the same recurrent injury that plagued Romo & now Rodgers). Why aren't they one injury away from retirement? Because their fathers aren't surgeons?

Just trying to pin down the year the gray area between hate and support got erased. Why can't you not be a supporter and simultaneously not a hater? Just curious because I'm not sold on ANY of these QBs so does that make me automatically a hater of all of them?

You don't have to hate to be a skeptic. I not sold on anyone either and this could end up being one of those years where there isn't a valid QB success until the 4th round.

I like a couple of QBs and will argue for them, but they could both be garbage.

    Welcome to football forums.

The closest comp I can think of for Allen is Flacco.

Giants should talk to the Browns about that #4 pick, in a trade-down. Everyone gets what they want. Giants get Darnold, Jets get Rosen, Browns get both Mayfield and Barkley. Giants get some picks in the process.

Middle fingers to the Bills and the Broncos.

Allen is like how Ryan Leaf looked like on tape in college but a much better leader and person.

Still if you put the work and fight for success he may turn out like a Big Ben. We are all scared of projects sadly

    You hitting the bottle again?
How many QBs we're at the combine? Have had pro days, work outs.
He has been praised for his football IQ.
Think back to Hack pre draft., He was lost at the white board. That's why he hasn't taken a snap in a regular season game.
