We could still yet win the division. New England 8 3 0 N.Y. Jets..... 6 5 0 Buffalo ........5 6 0 Miami ..........5 6 0 With us being 2 games behind its a tough ask , but still achievable. The Pats will have to drop games , and those could be @miami and @Jax , throw in the Titans on the last day , and it could be 2002 all over again. Pats 10-6 Jets 11-5 Pats remaining Schedule; Dec 3 Detroit Dec 10 @Miami Dec 17 Houston Dec 24 @Jacksonville Dec 31 @Tennessee Jets Remaining Schedule; Dec 3 @Green Bay Dec 10 Buffalo Dec 17 @Minnesota Dec 25 @Miami Dec 31 Oakland I know this is a hell of an ask but it could be done. Now to sit back and read all about koolaid.
I really hope your right and I'm rooting for it, but that is a huge stretch. After the pats just knocked off the bears, I see it difficult for them to go 2-3 or 3-2 in the final 5 games.
Yeah. Honestly, New England's schedule is pretty darn easy...only 1 team with a winning record and that's JAX who are without Leftwich. I think we have a much better shot at beating out KC, JAX and Cinci for that last wild card spot, especially since KC has got a tough schedule (Baltimore, Jax, San Diego) and Jacksonville has got Indy, NE, and KC...and Cincinatti has probalby the toughest of them all: Baltimore, Indy, Denver, Pittsburgh... I think 10-6 would give us a real good shot at that last wild card spot. It's too bad we lost that game to Jacksonville, we'd be in a much sweeter position at 7-4 with a tiebreaker over JAX than at 6-5 with them holding it over us...
the only thing we have to worry about is the Jets winning the games on the schedule. It was the "easy" part of the schedule before, but i don't see it that way now.
I feel the same way,Iv booked my reservations to the play off's before only not to make it in. One game at a time.
The Bills and the Fins are playing good football and they always play us tough. I am not sure I agree with the concept that this is now the easy part of the schedule. There is not a gimme in the bunch with the exception of maybe the Raiders at the end of the season. I do not see a division title in the future, at least not this season.
yeah, I think were better than those teams but Jets fashion is to drop 2 of them. we can only afford to lose 1 more game as far as I'm concerned. and even then I dunno if 10-6 will get it done unless JAX or KC nosedives.
I don't think we're winning the division. I don't see the Patriots dropping more than one game the rest of the year really. Gotta hope for the WC
The only conceivable way we win the division is if the Pats lose at Miami and Jax and we win out, giving us a 5-1 division record to their 4-2. It won't happen.
While returning from some Christmas shopping yesterday I tuned into Mike and The Mad Dog. Chris was mentioning he sees the Jets going "9 and 7-ish," which he claims is not good enough to make the playoffs by virtue of Jacksonville breaking any tie-breaker with them. So, he contends we would need to go 4-1 for the remaining games (a total record of 10-6, to get into the playoffs). I think I agree with that. Mike mentioned that although the Jets have what would have previously been considered an easy schedule, he rightfully pointed out that "any one of the remaining teams can be dangerous for the Jets" because they are playing better now than their (below .500) record. I'm not always with M&MD's opinions, but they are right on about this. Incidentally, they were also talking about the decision to go for it on 4th down and both agreed it was a "dumb call." "Stupid" is the exact word Chris used. Ironically though, they both thought the on-sides kick two weeks ago was a "good call," so that surprised me. I know M&MD aren't everyone's taste around here, but I figured I'd let you know what they were talking about yesterday afternoon.
Its a bit of a pipe dream to think we can take the division from the Pats. But sometimes its nice to dream. Being brutally honest though im really worried with the Fins and Bills upturn in form, its coming at just the wrong time for us and with them only a game behind those games are going to be very meaningful.
I'm with you on this... those two divisional games worry me the most. But we've got to remember that we've come a long way from last year and I really like what I'm seeing. While it can't be denied we're still in rebuild, the DEF seems to be gelling nicely into Mangini's 3-4 and Pennington looks much better than I thought he would. Whether we make the playoffs or not, more important is the way we look and play for the last 5 games. That's going to tell you a lot about where we're going next year. Who knows, if we can get a decent running game going....
I don't know... that remains to be seen. Cutler's being thrown to the wolves in Denver and we'll have to see how he fares.
Isn't Brady due to go down? After Sunday's win over the Bears, I think that's the only way we catch the Pats this year. That being said, I think the Jets can win the wild card if they take care of their business. I feel confident that the Jets can beat GB this week and that Losman will revert to form down in the Meadowlands in two weeks. Besides, our defense is playing much better than the 1st time we played them. Minnesota is one of those franchises the Jets just seem to own, we never lose to the Vikings. (Conversely, the Bears are a team that owns the Jets--I think we've beaten them once in our history). Oakland stinks and if we need that game, we'll win it on a New Year's Eve at home. The game that's most scary to me is the Fins game. The Fish hate the Jets and would love to play spoiler, especially on national TV. My hope is that the Fish will cool off between now and then, and they'll be too disinterested or distracted playing on Christmas Eve, to put together a solid effort.
as much as id love for this to happen what are the odds that a team as good as the pats will loss 3 of the next 5 games??? now lets say that they didnt have such a easy remaining scedule id still think they wouldnt loss 3 of 5....... bottom line jets are doing alot better this year than most people thought they would (including myself) lets bank on us winning our remaining games ... if we do that then its time to start looking at the playoff picture
Since the Pats pretty much have 3 automatics remaining, I doubt they'd lose 3 more games. However, we do have a very good shot at the wild card. The Bengals, Broncos, Chiefs, and Jags all are going to be beating up on each other. The Jags still have KC, Miami, Indy, and NE, and even though we have to beat them outright they definitely could lose 2-3, if not all, of those games. The Bengals have Baltimore, Indy, and Denver, and the Chiefs have Baltimore, Jax, and San Diego. 10-6 might just be enough to make it to the playoffs.
