Teddy is exactly who i wanted, Cousins was never coming here and was probably using us for leverage. Bridgewater serves a s a lower cost option and can potentially revive his career here. Its not everyday u can get a former 1st round QB who didnt lose his job to poor play and is still only 25 years old. This is potentially Macs best move as the GM. Its give us options and its no longer QB or bust at 6 for us.
Teddy means we don’t have to draft a qb at 6 but still can if we like what is there. All things considered he is probably the best you can do in most years. After the disappointment of not getting cousins wears off,I won’t hate this move
I really hope this doesn't preclude us not taking a QB at 6 if there's one there. If it does I'd rather go for Jackson...maybe trade down a few spots
Nothing wrong with this. Obviously he isn't be signed as "The Guy." I'd be shocked if a QB isn't drafted in round 1. Now that they have taken care of the QB, time for the rest of the dominoes to fall. Get a CB or two, get some OL, minimize your needs so you have some flexibility in the draft. I like that he has a little more upside as a bridge QB than McCown. That's about all. This better be a dirt cheap contract.
Of all three free agent Vikings quarterbacks, Teddy Bridgewater has the chance for the most upside. Still must draft a quarterback in rd 1, unless we miss on the top 3 and Barkley is there.
yeah you probably right. still, as of now I feel like following Cousins to Minnesota. The Vikings actually did what I had hoped the Jets would do. Build a solid defense, find some playmakers, and then strike when a golden QB opportunity presents itself. Shit they even got the OC I wanted.
I like the idea of. Barkley/Nelson at 6. Then Falk/Rudolph in R 2/3. Bridgewater, Hackenberg, Falk/Rudolph open competition. Forget about McCown.
Mccown/Bridgewater & another mid round project is flying dangerously close to Browns level ineptitude. Draft a QB at 6 or trade up.
Grabbing a QB with your first pick is a great option. As it's been said bridgewater could revive his career and we also have a 1st round QB developing. Just like Mahomes and Smith. If say a Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield is ready next year we trade Teddy to a QB needy team ....at 26 years old thats going to reap rewards. We don't know if he can pull it off and if he can't we have our rookie ready and waiting.
I am assuming it is a short cheap deal as he wants to prove he is worth the big bucks. If it is it is an ideal deal for the Jets assuming they draft a QB in the first round. Could be they draft Jackson in the 2nd and they did both go to Louisville.
I doubt it, but we may not trade up now. If one falls to us that we like, then maybe we pull the trigger.
Bridgewater bridges the gap and buys the FO/CS time. Worst case scenario and Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, are gone, and the Jets don't want to pick Allen or Jackson at 6. They could easily get a talented QB in the 2nd or 3rd like a Rudolph, Falk, or White who needs a year or two to get ready. If Bridgewater busts out during the two years, great; if not, the youngster is ready to go. What Mac absolutely needs to do is to build a stud OL in order to make sure whomever is back there has time, get a TE (Graham is out there...), and continue getting receivers.
Unless Barkley is there and Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield are off the board already. The heck with drafting Josh "Farmers Only" Allen in rd 1 with our 6 pick.
