At 14M per ... over priced for an ACL and coming off his worst year as a pro. Talented.. but not worth 14M+... I said 10M.
While I am happy that no one has figured out who we want (aside from Cousins) it is frustrating watching other teams get shiny new players while we have gotten nothing, I am also concerned that it seems we are having trouble bringing our better free agents back.
Another big FA off the market... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000920815/article/chiefs-expected-to-sign-watkins-to-3year-deal
First, I think its a question of whether we get Cousins and how we structure his deal, which is the reason why we haven't determined how much to spend on any of our own free agents. Second if by "better free agents" you mean Claiborne, Davis & Jenkins, I wouldn't break the bank for any of them.
Robinson is gone, Watkins is gone, Keenum is gone..all possible targets. I wonder if our brain dead GM will wake up in time to sign anybody on offense before they are all gone.
Keenum being gone is great news actually. Who cares about Watkins? Robinson is the only one of the group we should have gone after. That one sucks.
Teddy Graham out of Nabisco University I got a little carried away with booze. Wife is away on business.
problem is, we are required to spend 89% of 107 million. If the better FA's are gone, we are going to be forced to over spend on average players. Not a good plan
This is why I'd break the bank in cousins. They have to spend money this year. Better off overspending for the one position that matters instead overpaying for JAGS.
That's the whole concept of free agency though. Everyone who gets signed this offseason will be the among the highest paid at their positions. The problem if the jets sit around saying "that player is overpriced", they'll end up with noone. You need to pay for good players.
The Vikings looking like the have to go all in on cousins with Keenum off the board. Wonder if they would consider trading for Foles.. the QB that ripped them a new one in the NFC championship lol.
This is the fact that people forget - the Jets HAVE to spend a lot of money this year. Front loading a deal with Cousins is fine, but not if they don't put weapons around him. Edit: forget this - I was mistaken about the nature of the salary floor. The Jets don't actually have to spend a lot of money this year, and it's sure looking like they won't.
Okay take a deep breath everyone. It was highly unlikely Robinson, Watkins or Norwell were coming anyway. And did people really want Case Keenum???
Since we have to spend so much money, (BIG What if) What if we were to trade our 2 second rounders this year for Odell? we get a star playmaker (that we can pay a boatload to and we have to spend) and the Giants get rid of a PR headache this would obviously have to be paired with Cousins or a #6 QB
Brees deal just confirmed on nfl.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...brees-saints-agree-to-twoyear-50-million-deal
