Many players to choose from.... dewayne robertson and ellis were dominating the LOS all game.....Bryan Thomas with 2 big sacks.....Kerry Rhodes just completely dominating, he was everywhere On O, our oline did a great job in pass protection, as usual......Pennington, very solid game......Coles and Cotchery came up huge for us, making some great ctaches in traffic on 3rd downs etc Mike Nugent showed us why we drafted him so high, and this game could be huge for his confidence in the future, as well as the confidence that Mangini has in Nugent Overall, very nice game by the whole team
Nuge' held the game especially with the 54 yarder until our O got on track. I'd have to say it was Nuge' He accounted for 12 of the 26 points.
I gave it to Rhodes. Defense played great and he was the best one out there on the unit. The combined trio of Chad/Coles/Cotch was pretty f'ing good too.
kerry rhodes gets better everytime he steps out there. hes probably the only good middle-round draft pick of the herm era... but i am excited to have him. if we can add some more pieces to this defense, we could have quite a unit.
A. Kerry Rhodes - absolutely love watching him play. What a monster. B. Lavernaues Coles - great game receiving, lives up to his talk after "dispute" with Pennington last week. C. Mike Nugent - the first good game of his career. Mangini finally trusted him with a long kick attempt, and he came through.
its a tough one, alot of good players today. but because of the extra points Nuge put up, we actually had a guaranteed win in the 4th instead hoping the D holds up in the final minutes. plus that tackle was freakin' sweet. :jets:
Tough one for me. Right after the game I would have said Kerry(on his way to the PB if he keeps that stuff up) but when I thought about it I had to vote for Mike. A 54 yarder? Come on. Plus he put AT LEAST 3 kicks into the endzone. We needed that from him. But on the whole the D was the heroes of the day. The O did enough.
1. Jets defense 2. Chad pennington (A little extra zip on that ball yesterday) 3. Kerry The Play Maker Rhoads
i agree, he's definitely having a very good year. and because of this, we may let Thomas walk. i think Hobson has one year left, so if it comes down to signing them both, right now, they've got to be leaning towards Hobson. i mean, i guess we can sign them both, but if they plan on upgrading the OLB spot, which one would you upgrade? probably Thomas. cheers
I voted for Rhodes cuz I think he had the best single performance. He was all over the field, made alot of tackles on 3rd down. And his pick all but sealed the game momentum wise. Nuge would be second, his KO's were better and he nailed his kicks including a impressive 54 yd'er. Chad gets mention because he was the offense. but he was shaky early on, good to see he found his rhythm. But going against the worst pass d in the league. the coaching staff asked him to do that and expected it.
BUBBLES! Kerry Rhodes is far and away our team's most talented player. He is all over the place on D, and he is having a great year on ST as well. Yesterday was just an outright amazing performance for him. Before the game, I promised that if Nuge managed to go 4-4 with a 60+ yarder, I would stop complaining about him. Well, he managed the 4-4, and I decided to give him credit for the 50+. I still don't like him, and unfortunately, I can't discuss why for this week. Suffice to say though, you people should really stop sweating him for kicking it into the end zone on KOs. (I'll be able to explain my point next week.) Chad deserves a honorable mention. Getting up from that blow that had the vast majority of us holding our breath, then waving his arms to pump the crowd was the true turning point of the game. (There were a lot of great plays that could qualify, but that one moment had the stadium the loudest I heard it all day [at least on tv.]) Plus, after getting up from that, he started to play with that "swagger" he had early in the season again. He had been missing that since Jacksonville. Coles gets a mention simply for putting his "money where his mouth is." Cotch Rocket would be the best find of the Herm era if not for Rhodes. Hobson has played well, but Vilma is starting to look more comfortable too, which is important. Thomas has been the best surprise on D so far IMO. (Rhodes isn't so much a surprise, since the expectations were so high.) The D line is really stepping up. DRob is even starting to impress me, which I never dreamed would happen. My only issue is that when Ellis has to turn and chase the QB, he runs like he crapped his pants. Honestly, the only part of the entire team I am unhappy with is our corner position. Dyson shows flashes of brilliance, then sputters. The other side is just a big mess of whoever is not on Mangini's bad side that week. Oh, my only other complaint is SUTTON. This prevent 4Q crap is killing me. Finish it. When you have your opponent down, stab the neck. That's what NE does, that's what Indy does. We have to finish games, even against weaker teams. Don't breed this lax attitude with a lead, because it will carry over against good teams. (And with our fairly easy schedule ahead, if we make the playoffs, that's a bad habit to get into.)
pretty much how i feel except I wanna see Penny show more consistency by bringing home a W against GB. 1 part I disagree is. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! I was dissappointed in Vilma's performance. alot of times I saw him taking himself out of position or missing with arm tackles. but 1 bad week doesnt say alot, so I'm not calling for anyones head.
Why can't you discuss why you don't like him until next week? Are you hoping he has a bad game next week so you can bash him or something?
Ummm no. Did you read what I wrote? I specifically stated that I promised pregame that if he went 4/4, and hit a 60+ yarder, I would stop talking smack about him. He wound up going 4/4 (which I never believed possible,) and I gave him credit for the 50+ toward the 60+. So IMO, that gets him a week's reprieve from my opinions on him. Trust me, I could make a case against him in yesterday's game.
Ok. For the sake of argument, let's suspend your promise for a minute. Let's here the case AGAINST him for yesterdays game.
Now that would be pretty ridiculous wouldn't it? Why bother making a promise if you aren't going to keep it? It's a lot like renegging on a sig bet, and I'm pretty sure everyone knows how I feel about that subject at this point.
