I knew that after this loss there was going to be a big backlash against Chad. Let's remind ourselves a couple of things here. #1 Thinking about making the playoffs is a long shot. #2 The Bears defense is ranked #1 in the NFL. #3 No mistakes against the Bears and they could have won. The two offensive drives the Jets had that was going to lead them for Touchdowns were ended with a interception inside the endzone in the 1st half & the forced interception by Chad in the 2nd half. Some agreed and some dis-agreed with the onside kick that started the 2nd half. I am with those who dis-agreed with that call. In no way do you allow the Bears a free shot at great field position when there is no score on the board. Overall the Jets played a strong game and whatever chances the Bears had, they took it and converted a field goal and a TD. Compared to what happened with the Giants, they took their foot off the pedal, the Jets didn't yet we couldn't get a score. This in my view while they didn't get the W, they were able to match up pretty good against one of the better defenses in the NFL. The Jets are 5-5 with 6 games left. That means they have made a believer out of me and they should have done it to you guys as well showing much improvement than what we as well as the entire NFL gave them credit for. I gave them 3 wins this season & dreamt for 5. So far they have surpassed both my picks. If they get more wins than 5 it's golden. I understand what some of you were hoping for with this miracle season and I admit I too felt that there could be a playoff bid at the end of the tunnel. But right now all we need to think about is finishing this season on a good & strong note. At Home we have Houston, Oakland, Buffalo. Away At Green Bay, Miami, Minnesota. Is it believeable that the Jets could end up 11-5 or 10-6? We shall see but right now Chad is our QB & I am happy he is. We were lucky to get D'Brick & Mangold on the O-Line and look at how they are performing. Defense is improving, but we all know that this coming draft, the Jets needs are on Defense. Right now let's keep the knee jerk reactions down to a ZERO because there is more upside to this team than what was originally thought of. Mangini and his staff has done a great job with what they have worked with. Be happy that they have gotten this far. Be happy they are competitive. Let's get ready for Houston on Sunday & to every Jets fan on Gang Green .com a Happy ThanksGiving
A nice informative thread bleed Green, I like where we are going just now with Brick and Mangold turning into real studs. Play offs are a bonus if we get there. Lets hope we do, I hate Christmas without interest in post season.
True Scotland. We have to keep our heads from exploding. We all knew this was going to be a difficult bad season, but the good has popped up and the future which looked murky at first, seems to be getting bright.
The thing to remember here is that if you remove the first 4 games of the season from the record Chad has been a bad NFL QB. His rating is in the low 60's if you do that, and QB's that spend 6 games compiling that kind of record don't keep their jobs for very long.
One week Chad's a Genius... the next you all want him tarred and feathered... amazing.... reflective of our disfunctional society
Having the team going in the right direction is great and I'm sure everyone is ecstatic with the way this team is progressing. Not everyone is looking at the results for just this year though. We want a SB contender, not just a noise making one and done playoff team right? I'm enjoying the season so far and I'd say it would be a success no matter how it ends at this point, but I'm not comfortable with our QB situation. Watching CP week in and week out has lead me to believe that he's not our QB of the future. He throws too many jump balls, his accuracy has gone down, and it would be more then fair to say his decision making has been at very least questionable. It's not like he's being hurried on every pass play, or he's getting beat up and sacked all game. He has some time back there, which is why some of his play has been inexcusable. It's not a knee jerk reaction. It's a culmination of watching all the Jets games up to this point this season. Hell, you could just look at his QB rating and stat line to tell he's not playing well this year. Stats are what they are, and while they can be deceiving, they don't lie. Sorry to be the downer in this thread, but I want a team thats built to last, and I think that solid quarterback play is one of the first areas that will need to be addressed. I'm not rooting against Chad, and I don't want to see him benched because that will mean were out of the playoff hunt...I just hope the CS will not hesitate to pull him if he doesn't right the ship and fast. Here's to putting a beat down on Houston this weekend though, and happy Thanksgiving to you too.
And what I'm saying is that if you keep analyzing Chad like this it means that you were assuming from day one we were going to the playoffs. Everyone had a belief that the Jets were going no where and we might still go no where if its a winning record, but you want to over analyize this. So let's take away four of the five wins and keep the victory against New England. Feel better? Chad must go and bring in Patrick Ramsey. If that's what you want to hear then that's what we should be bitching about. How about this enjoy the damn season without a care in the world because there was no way this team was going to the playoffs. Can they still go? Yes, but that means no one is expecting this team to do so.
Cool Job Jets! With 6 games to go, I expect the Jets to go 11-5. I always expect the Jets the best!
Today's "bad" team? The same "bad" team that swept the Jags - or that "bad" New England team the JETS defeated 2 weeks ago that just beat the BEARS. He should have also defeated that "bad" Indy team had the defense been able to make a stop after he gave us the lead. Yeah - I see your point. He only beats the bad teams.
Against Indy, Chad actually had 3 opportunities to score TDs late in the game that he failed on. The Jets defense is better now but, it's Manning, the Colts and the regular season, I'm not sure many teams can beat the Colts in those situations. Are you really arguing that Chad "beat" the Patriots with his 168 yards 1 TD 1 INT 5.1 ypa game? I think the team won in spite of his bad to mediocre performance, not that he "won" the game. What's apalling is that is the best he's played against a good defense in quite awhile. I estimate he can have a "breakout" game like that against good defenses 1 out of evety 8 times. Are you trying to argue the Texans, with their 3 wins on the season, are a good team? That's just funny. J.P. Losman ripped them apart last week. Almost beating teams doesn't count as wins anyway. This is the NFL, lots of teams almost beat other teams all the time. The Browns and Titans must be great teams too I guess. Heck, the NFL is full of great teams! Chad rocks!
Blah, blah, blah. You wouldn't be saying that if they lost to the Texans today and we would go 5-6. Simple knee jerk reaction when the Jets beat a team they are suppose to.
What I'm saying is that you can't have it both ways. If the Patriots win was a team victory (and you're right, it was) not a Chad win; then all of those losses you seem to blame on Chad by suggesting he can only win against bad teams must be team losses - not all Chad. The fact is his play was much better than mediocre: He played better against the Pat's than most QB's in this league do and it was on their home field and in terrible weather that didn't allow a large ypa game. So YES I'm suggesting he beat the Pats; just like I acknowledge that he lost to the Bears. How super was Tom Brady's performance against us in those same conditions?
You can have it both ways, because they're not the same thing. A team can overcome bad QB play to win, but a bad QB can overcome a team performance to give his team the loss. Just as certain QBs, and one RB, can bail their TEAMS out of bad games. There is a difference between a QB going out there and winning a game, going out there and not losing a game, and going out there and losing a game. Nobody is taking away Chad winning a game, or keeping the Jets in games. People credit Chad for keeping us in the game against the Colts, and carrying the team the first 2 games of the season. It's just an argument against him "winning" against the patriots and not "losing" against the Bears. He went out there against the Patriots and didn't win or lose the game. He went out there against the Bears and a few other times this season and lost a game. The first 2 weeks of the season, he won those games, and against the Colts, he almost won, but didn't quite get it done.
Nice posting. I agree 100% on this. I am overall glad that this team is showing fight week in and week out.
