Who do you think won the match-up of the first overall pick verses the fourth overall pick. I heard a lot of people saying Mario had a terrible game on the after game shows. Personally however, I thought Mario may have had a little edge in the game even though his stats didn't show it. Mario collapsed pocket a lot and almost killed Chad. Don't get me wrong I don't think D'Brink sucked I just think he got a little out played this game. Thoughts and votes appricated. Thanks, Jetman
It's a tough one but I say D'brick because I didn't hear the announcers mention Mario Williams much besides maybe two plays and he didn't really do anything game changing. I know its not the greatest reason to support D'Brick but hey it's hard to watch these two battle it out play after play.
i was actaully impressed by mario. hes strong and fast, and was pretty disruptive at times. but, his impact wasnt too major, and his name wasnt called that often. i call it a draw...
Williams was non existant as a pass rusher in this game and i thought he did better against the run. He got to Chad once and I felt that was because chad held onto the ball too long, but even that was not a sack.
When Mario slammed Penny, wasn't he lined up against someone else? D'Brick had his number all game. I say we had the better player yesterday, and the better pick in the draft.
It was against D'Brick. Nice swim move to the inside after a power move drove him back. It seemed Mario didn't have alot of moves. Mostly bull rushes that collasped the pocket. I like those kind of rushers. They stay in their lanes and don't give up big runs to their side (see Dwight Freeney).
Hey, I won't take anything away from Mario. He'll be a great over his career. I just think we got the better pick. IMO, there is no question that Brick is MUCH further along developmentally than Mario at this stage in their careers.
Although our offense put up some points, I said Mario because the one play where I was able to watch the matchup closely resulted in a sack for Williams.
I'd say Brick, Mario didn't have any impact plays and the play where Chad got knocked out I'd say was more result of the RB missing his block on the other defender forcing Chad to try to make an awkward play and opening himself to a hit by Mario. Besides we had how many #1 picks on our DL during the Herm era and made how many SB's or AFC title games? You win with OL and honestly we have the foundation of a good one as I have been more impressed with Mangold than Brick.
