I’m all for trading up and grabbing a QB if we believe we can get one. But even that can come at a bigger cost than the cap ramifications of signing Cousins. Absent of that, if you aren’t able to get a QB you believe is good enough to make you a winner in free agency you have to do that as well. As I mentioned, it’s not all or nothing — keep striking out on top 3 QB’s and abandon all other attempts to be good. How many players are you going to attract to your team if you aren’t trying to at least be good and are clear in your philosophy of willing to suck until you strike gold at QB. not many players are going to want to waste their career sucking waiting for you to find the rare gem of a QB in the draft.

Yeah know, the guy who says qb completion percentage has nothing to do with the qb is very wise. Go circle jerk the other morons. You clearly have no idea what youre talking about.

They had the 28th best rushing attack in the league. Out of 32. How do you expect anyone to take you seriously?

Fair enough, your point is as valid as anyone else's.

I am not going to scan the entire message board but what do you want the jets to do when it comes to qb this year?

Well if they had 1400 with crappy rbs they obviously could get it done enough to help this qb you want so badly. Mostly it's because teams are not scared of cousins and prioritized stopping the run over the pass. Till ya know they just fell back into zone amd prevent with the lead, anf your boy suddenly threw for a lot of yards. Of you watched him tho, youd know that.

Says the guy who argued the average career of all players, of all positions and skill level to argue the likely career span of a starting QB with already five years plus experience.

The fact that you even thought that was a reasonable argument reflects how little you know of the game nevertheless how little cognitive ability you have to identify relevant stats and draw a conclusion from them.

Continuing to simply end your posts declaring the other person doesn’t know what they are talking about doesn’t erase how little you have actually shown you know.

Move up and draft the rosen. I like darnold but i think rosen could be better. I also dont hate baker mayfield. I think he could learn to play in the NFL and be effective.

Had we lost more games I'd be in full agreement. We're looking at the 3rd best QB in this draft, at best, maybe lower. Chances of him leading us to a Super Bowl are likely less than Cousins.
I agree we have alot of holes to fill so trading up for a better shot at a QB isn't the answer either. Signing a FA gives us the most flexibility in the draft and maximizes the # of picks Mac has to work with.
Either way this team is not competing for a Super Bowl next year but the more competitive and the more growth the better. Cousins, no matter how much you may dislike him would be the best QB we have had on the roster in years, maybe since Namath.
I'm all for creating a winning culture and that starts with actually winning.

I have to point the finger at myself too for being happy when the Jets go 10-6 and make the playoffs, but then I wake up from that and realize that it's just more of the same. Believe me, over 55 years I've seen more than a fan should of shitty seasons, and I've jumped at the chance for a better than average one, but I'm at the point where I'm not going to settle for that. After 5 or 6 decades a team ought to mature enough to figure out how to be a consistent winner, but the Jets seem as clueless now as they were in the 1970s.

As I've said many times over the course of this debate, through multiple threads, I'm not going slit my wrists because they sign Cousins, but I just don't think it's the right move for the long haul. I can definitely see where it's very possible that signing Cousins and using the #6 - or even trading up - to snag Barkley or another stud, and using the rest of their top picks for great prospects, added to whomever they sign as FA can easily make the Jets playoff bound, but that's not guaranteed either. As much as seeing them post a winning record would be enjoyable, how aggravating will it be to see Cousins fail to pull out a close game, or worse, blow one because he's just not an elite QB? How much more enjoyable would it be to see our QB tearing the heart out of another team - the Patriots! - because he's got the extra something in his make up? I prefer the latter, but am not going to cry if they get Cousins.

Ah I got it. So the Skins couldn’t run the ball because teams didn’t respect Cousins. It’s not the fact they played with about 87 different OL combos and had no true bellcow back. It’s teams not respecting Cousins (4000 yards, 27 TDs, 13 INTs, 64% completion).

I’ve seen a lot of dumb shit on this website over the years. Your performance in this thread is climbing the ranks quickly.

Wait, having a terrible running game reflects a positive of the team because it was done with terrible running backs?

You really are stupid. You just play the smart guy in your head. He was wrong the average qb starting or not isnt 37. Youre just mad thay you can't come up with a rebuttal to ANYTHING ivr said. Go ahead dispute that horrid red zone completion percentage. Then go look at top Qbs and tell me what theirs is. Dispute his records when throwing 30 or more times. Im still waiting. Until you do, your opinion is null and void and you still haven't inserted another quarter.

So again, no facts, just some random dribble. No context, no looking at games just an i feel opinion. Yeah nice try, again im waiting for you to post an actual rebuttal.

He would be but the bar isnt that high, so take ot for what it is. Im sure whatever qb we draft wont be as bad as Petty. Even with all his ineptitude, we still could have beaten NO.

Your guy is a good QB...there is no disputing that

A lot of us doubt whether he is a GREAT QB ...A QB who is trying sell himself as a 34 million dollar savior

Where is the EVIDENCE that Capt Kirk has fasered ANY GOOD TEAM this season last or whenever ...go ahead and TELL ME

...he played in a 2015 playoff and LOST

People like Josh Allen for his size and speed on the ball...but at Wyoming he played no tough opponents and he is NOT Carson Wentz

Rosen Darnold and Mayfield at least played some top notch competition ...they are better today than the Captain

If the option was in front of me — Rosen, Darnold or Cousins, I’d take Rosen or Darnold. I think Mayfield is likely Cousins level, I’d take Cousins and skip the development. I don’t have an opinion of Allen; never seen him play.

But those options aren’t all available to us at this moment so Cousins has to be considered.

If Darnold / Rosen are that elite, the QB needy Browns and Giants would not be interested in giving them up.
The Browns are loaded with picks, this year and next , and the Giants wouldn't trade their pick to the Jets even if they felt Manning had many years left to play. Neither is really an option.

Zace IS making valid points. He's digging deeper into the numbers and there are some troubling things with Cousins that you really don't want to see when you're about to commit $30mil a year. I hope the Jets front office is doing the same.
