Huh? Didn't Ingram get two 50 yard runs in the same game? Kinda warped definition of keeping in check. Oh maybe you meant they kept the other runningback in check for majority of the game. But that one guy not so much.

I don't blame Petty for the lost but he still stunk. As a Jets fan that doesn't make me feel any better.

Thanks. During the NFL draft coverage, you'll often hear draft pundits use organizations to describe a player like "[player X] is a [Patriots, Steelers, Packers or insert any other team] type of player. What is the Jet type of player? I think we need to get to that point where that question is not a set-up for a joke.

Jet type - quits half way through the season then gets sent packing at the end.

If its a QB, he has to suck. If its a defensive player, obviously he's the BPA left on the board. Why? Its what we do..

It seems that the jets type of player is Johnny Bravo... talent doesn't matter as long as he fits the suit.

There's no doubt that organizational philosophy and all levels of the FO/CS being on the same page when it comes to their draft and FA approach is key to building a successful team. Not sure how much of this goes in Florham Park but obviously the Jets have never been great at this.

Regardless, let's get the FQB and build this culture around him.

I have a lot of doubt in this current regime to develop a young QB. If you don't, I don't know what you've been watching.

Sometimes HC are fired because they just suck, Jaguars stuck with their HC for 4 years for the sake of continuity and look at the result of bringing in a better HC. I'm sure their fans thought the GM was doing a terrible job acquiring talent through the draft, but all along it was the HC that was the problem.

I'm not saying firing everyone all the time is the answer either, but maybe making a move by firing the HC leaving the GM in place to hire an offensive minded HC that shares his philosophy might change things for the better.

Mike Maccagnans QB history through the years. Had some input on each
    2002 David Carr, Round 1
    2003 Dave Ragone, Round 3
    2003 Drew Henson, Round 6
    2004 B.J. Symons, Round 7
    2008 Alex Brink, Round 7
    2011 TJ Yates, Round 5
    2014 Tom Savage, Round 4
    2015 Bryce Petty , Round 4
    2016 Christian Hackenberg , round 2

You got that right. BPA is all they do. I'm gonna start using BTF instead. Best team fit let's try that for a decade.

Mac has focused on the D every draft he has been here. I'm not sure an Offensive minded HC would share his philosophy.

Or maybe match an offensive system with a QB?

Actually the "easy ones" you refer to aren't all that easy, it you're referring to the short passes be blew. Short passes are almost always thrown into tight coverage and from a short drop meaning the QB is under immediate pressure. This would cause short-arming or air mailing throws unless the QB has a lot of reps in such situations, and playing for the scout team and with back ups isn't going to provide this. The game plan did Petty no favors, and it's more evidence that this CS doesn't have a clue how to adjust to the realities of the situation. Making Petty the scapegoat for this is bullshit.

Good coaches adapt to players strengths, they don't try to make a player adapt to the system.

Funny how Petty did great once they took the restraints off. Maybe, just maybe, the CS should've recognized their original game plan wasn't working and made adjustments to it. Or you could just do what Bowles does best: trying to fit that square peg into a round hole.

Mac has zero control over how Bowles picks who plays and practices, and how he runs his practices, and he has zero control over Morton and Bates. How is what you said Mac's fault? Saying Mac hates young QBs is just plain silly.

  19. Youd like to think that they discussed said plan before putting into action. Doesn’t make sense for either Bowkes or MAC to operate this way & it certainly isn’t gonna have success short of randomly striking gold late in the draft. Its the lack of communication & synergy that I place blame on Mac for..likewise for Bowles

When did Petty do great? I am trying to figure this one out. He didn't do anything against the Saints that would make me think he did great at any point. That also applies for the 4 other games he started.
