In his defense it's only his fifth start, Mcown has been making the same mistakes after 10 plus years in the NFL. The question is, would Petty be more comfortable if he had started the season as the starter at this point in the season? That's alll guys wanted to see, Petty play the whole year, let the game slow down for him and see if there was anything to work with. He's going into next year with the same question hanging over his head.
I dont thinknyou even know what youre talking about. Your argument is that bad coaching and bad plays can both exist and your argument is and always was, we have underperforming talent. I said youre wrong, we dont have talent, if anything weve outperformed our talent level. How and why you think we should be performing better is beyond me, i just dont see where you think we have better talent than we do and our ranks in the league support that. We havent had a particularly difficult schedule Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
In order for the the bold to matter in this discussion, one would have to believe Bowles was a good coach. All I wrote was: That doesn't mean I think Rex was a good coach. Again RIF (Reading Is Fundamental).
Again you still stated hes a better coach. Support your position. You have yet to do that. Im still waoting for you to support anything you said, otherwise youre talking out your ass as usual Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Reading too much on Petty criticism. It's not his fault he's only started 4 games - he should have been played much earlier in the season but Bowles had his ridiculous "bets chance to win' campaign slogan going that fooled no one.
Yeah, at this point, you need to have mechanics, you cant learn them at this level typically. If you do, thats your own work away from the team, not a qb coach. Theres not enough time to do that during training camp. If he doesnt get that handled, hell never succeed. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Did anyone hear Gannon's comments on Peyton and how he wanted to draft Petty after he worked him out, because he liked him that much?
Ugh...Everyone can agree that the offensive side of the ball has outperformed the talent level. Conversely, the defensive side of the ball which is supposed to be Bowles area of expertise has grossly underperformed and THAT IS WHAT I WROTE. Going into the season most Jets fans thought we had some talent on defense and that would hopefully keep us in some games because we pretty much knew the offense would be God awful. Surprisingly, the opposite has happened. The offense is the strength of the team. If they don't perform well, we have no shot as Bowles' D can't stop a nose bleed. If you want to give Bowles credit for the O, knock yourself out. I personally don't believe he has anything to do with it.
Through a half Petty seems largely unremarkable. He's not "bad" but he's not good either. Not really flashing anything that says there is hope for his future. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I believe he has mechanics and if he started the whole season the speed of the game would have slowed down and his mechanics would be more polished, these are all things they see on tape. He's playing exactly how we expected to him to play, rushed.
Oh I've been saying for quite some time this defensive has a talent deficiency. I also have gone on record as saying i dont like Rodgers calling the defense. He hasnt done well. I think Bowles is doing good with what he has. Lets be honest, no coach is gonna be successful with this roster. Im not saying TB gets a lifetime contract either, but we need talent. I think there is a talent deficiency in the league overall in terms of coaching and players. Bowels is just like his contemporaries. I dont think we necessarily find better elsewhere. No offense, his mechanics are atrocious. That last drive was a perfect example. Starting more games isnt going to improve that. Watson in Houston hasn't been in the league nearly as long and has better mechanics, so thats no excuse. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Well i cant argue that, but he obviously wasnt that enamored with him. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Good to see Petty picking up right where he left off. But, hey, Morton did call a 1st down pass, so there's that.
