I could care less about Chad's stats as long as the offense were putting points on the board. It's the QB's job to get his team down the field and score. Good stats are only a byproduct of that.
he would not be the starter, period. in fact, if weeb were the head coach, he would not even be on the roster.
We have an overpaid QB who is the 29th ranked QB in terms of efficiency rating in the NFL, who has no arm and is throwing balls up for grabs by the D. Granted we also have an overpaid end that hasn't played great, but the difference is we don't have a DE of the future sitting on the bench like we do at QB. In fact Ellis is playing better than the DE on the other side. As Stat pointed out Denver, who is 7 & 3 is about to put in Cutler to start. Denver is not just a contender for a playoff spot, they are a contender for a SB and Shanahan understands that without significantly better QB play they aren't going to win one this year, next year or the year after. Prior to breaking his leg, there are some experts that believe Clemens was an outright first round pick. He comes from a big time program and apparently, by some reports has a live arm and is smart as can be. I have no idea how good or bad Clemens will turn out, and I'm certainly skeptical of his size to be a prototypical NFL QB but I do know the current QB doesn't have an NFL arm, is no longer accurate or efficient with the ball and is making bad decisions with the ball. Joe Montana was a third round pick. Tom Brady a 6th rounder, maybe we get real lucky and Clemens is the deal. If Shanahan doesn?t believe that Jake Plummer can take a 7 & 3 team to a SB, why should any one in their right mind believe that Pennington can take this Jet team with their crappy overpaid DE, Ellis and their can't stop the run D to a SB? Apparently in order for the Jets to win a SB, we are going to need significantly better play from our QB in order to overcome the other deficiencies on this team. Guess what we drafted a highly rated prospect in the second round. Maybe we should take a look at him? For right now I'm fine with Pennington starting. We have a schedule where mediocre QB play should get us to 10 wins? If we happen to beat Miami and Buffalo along the way we might even be in the hunt for the playoffs with a 5 & 1 division record? We don't need Chad to be great, we need him to run the O, make an occasional play and not chuck the ball up for grabs. Based on his play the last several weeks, including the NE game, I don't believe Chad has the accuracy anymore to not put the ball up for grabs. I hope he proves me wrong, just as I hope Ellis steps up and plays better. To bad in Ellis's case we don't have a replacement on the bench. __________________ "What we got here is a failure of communication." That indefinite period of time was 21 hours. I took you off ignore due to the above post. It was the best thing I have ever seen from you. Oh, and one other thing. I don't think you understand my take on Pennington. For some reason you think I am a huge Pennington fan. I am not. I just like him more than Patrick Ramsey, Matt Schaub, and the rookie. I do not want Pennington on the team next year.
then, given the protection by the o-line, why would you wait until next year? wouldn't you rather make the playoffs this year? the steelers won the whole thing as a 6th seed. why handicap the offense with a guy who has no velocity/accuracy/distance ability? if he's so smart, he should be a qb coach or off. coord, not a starting qb?
weeb won the super bowl. he didn't do that without a qb who had velocity, accuracy, and the ability to make all of the throws. you didn't see other teams with 8 or 9 guys in the box. so, we play houston. j-ville played them, and came out with a loss. you really think it's an automatic w? there are no such things-didn't the browns game show you anything?:shit:
The last time I took some acid, I thought it might be interesting to put on a pair of rose-colored glasses and sacrifice a couple of Duck wings as part of a tailgate ritual prior to a Pennington start. You might be right about me?
if Chad can't have a big passing game against the texans he will not be back next year -- this isa game we need him to get his Mojo back with C&C
This moment reminds me of 2004 when Chad had a miserable game against the Steelers. He bounced back to destroy the Seahawks the next week. Let's hope history repeats. Well, aside from the whole "privilege" thing.
really? maybe he should try some of it as well. then, as herm used to say, 'he'll just play and quit trying to over-analyze everything.'. might even improve his arm.:shit:
better than noodle brains...by the way, your favorite duck is 10 rating points behind j.p. losman. don't drink too much champaign after the texans game.:drunk:
Pennington is a good QB that you hate. If you hate something or somebody so much, nothing can change your mind. i.e. I hate brussel sprouts. There is no way to make brussel sprouts for me to like them.
