One of the best posts i have ever read!!! Thank you for the evidence based insight. Im evaluating how i post now.
Plus 10 million...cream of the crop at the top! Thanks for researching this....my argument for drafting a FQB based on this I tried to show the results of where Trubisky Goff Wentz taken and how they did it and this confirms GM reasoning
Either way we go we need to draft a QB and sign a FA in the off season... I don't want to throw a rookie into the starting lineup right out of the gate. The best part about drafting the future QB is having a few years before a big $ contract for the kid is needed and we can make some improvements to the other positions and hopefully build a solid roster with some depth. The real key is finding players like Mac did this off season like Ealy , Davis and the kid we got from the Eagles for McDougle, along with a few others that were throwaways yet seem to be providing some good depth and , in the case of Ealy, making a big impact. Look at the Pats... they very rarely go after the big name FA yet they always seem to find guys that make an impact. That's what Macc needs to do for us to be successful... he needs to find some contributors who aren't top $ guys. I know the old adage that it's better to build through the draft then build through FA but this thinking imo is off the mark in today's big salary capped NFL. Where you run into trouble is buying the most expensive FA and neglecting other positions of need because you're locking up too much of your cap space at 2 or 3 positions. So I say , if we need to package this years crop of picks with a few top picks from next season to get our guy at QB then I'm all in... we just need to hope our scouting department can find a few diamonds in the rough when filling out the rest of the roster through FA.
QBs like Rosen, Mayfield and Jackson can play from day 1. No point in getting a vet. Maybe you resign McCown for cheap as a backup. Give the young one all of the reps to ensure the offense and play calling is designed around the QBs skill-sets. Continue to build up the roster.
And Josh Rosen could too, that is until he gets injured (yet again) as was the case just last night. . As good as your unhinged trash from the 'Diabetes' thread, "Unc" ?
According to that article I much rather give Cousins the money than risk our entire future on a guy who might fail ... and given our history he has plenty of reason to fail and we're back to square one
Regarding the trade I think we will be picking in the top 10 anyway so to move up from 10 to let's say 5 that should be enough
Y'all know the next Jets starting quarterback is Case Keenum. Mac aint drafting no quarterback in the first round. BPA son.
Trash? So since you feel my thoughts, beliefs, and feelings are trash i supppse that gives you the right to subjugate me. Make me submit to your way of thinking, force me to give up all that i know to be real and true in order to appease you and not fall victim to your wrath? I had to delete the rest of what i wrote because i realized this is not the forum for those thoughts. To you be your way and to me be mine.
We need to stop bringing in vets. Our OL needs to be addressed, but even so we need to reach high for a top QB.
Yes, let’s spend another five years without a legitimate QB prospect and expect different results. Definition of insanity and all. Illogical or insanity seems to be the two choices proposed in this thread.
And were able to fill the rest of the wholes in their roster via free agency and trades. As many have pointed out we will potentially have up to $80 million in cap space. I'm not for trading up but it can be done without totally depleting your roster.
I’m not sure what point you are making here. Prognosticators being wrong about the Giants means another team may not be just a QB away from being good? I fail to see the correlation between the two.
History shows that first round QBs are the most successful and it's not even debatable. Of course there are a few outliers. Common sense also states that the QB is the most important position on a team and if your team does not have an excellent one you will not win the Super Bowl. Isn't that the goal? Or are some of you content with a retread QB, potential for 9-7 or 10-6 if all goes well, and a first round loss in the playoffs if they make it? Wasting years on older QBs that have never won is the worst thing this franchise could have done this year. They were never going to make the playoffs. They should have given the young kids experience after a few games and if they didn't perform well you would be in position to draft Rosen, who will change the course of any franchise he plays for - that's what a FQB does. The reason why you go all in this year is because we have 80 mil in cap space and two second rounders. It's a perfect year to do it.
Exactly - I totally agree: This is a QB-driven league, more so than at any time in its history, so that's where the highest investment has to be, and they have to keep investing until they hit.
The first Round gives you a 63% per cent chance of finding a starter...most GMs alll know this and PAY THE PRICE Plus 100 million But no one on this board wants to believe this...Some .other posters on the GG know more ahahahahah SMH 100xs
