You guys are so critical of the Chicago press, but they were not the only ones ripping the onside kick call this week. I saw it a half dozen other places on TV and the net, including SI, ESPN's NFL Live and on NFL.com. I agree you can't play too much Monday morning QB on these things, but you have to admit in retrospect it looks like a bad call, given the final score.
chicago writes have always been critical on other teams and very delusional with there very own. So forget them. There not going to the super bowl anyways. I still hope they beat the patriots though.
Junc is absolutely right. I love Mangini, and I didn't hate Herm like most of you, but you guys need to call a spade a spade, and be able to say that Mangini made a bad decision when he did. Neither team was going to go on a long drive all game. The chances you recover the onsides are at best 40%, and the ball will be on your own 40-45 anyway, so it's not the biggest difference. It wasn't the worst call I've ever seen, but I didn't really understand it. The only real justification I can imagine is that they were scared of Hester...
