If you think Chad should be benched, then your answer to my question is no. The only thing that can ride us to the playoffs is offense. Our defense stepped up big last week, but haven't been consistent this season. Offense means that Chad needs to be our starter. Can Clemens get us to the playoffs? No.

I'm sorry, you guys are probably thinking, "oh not another save chad thread" but i'm getting sick and tired of some people saying its clemens time. Pennington played against one of the best defenses in the nfl and yeah, he sucked last week. But we were one missed tackle away from being down by 3 points. Then our strategy changes, and it's not the same game.

Of course not everything on the defensive side can be perfect and we need help from Chad, but is Clemens going to do any better? We can't stick Clemens in the middle of the season when we have a great chance to make the playoffs. If we lose to the texans next week, should we bench chad? No because we still have a chance. We'll be 5-6, with 5 more not so hard games. It can happen, but not with any other QB on our roster besides Chad.

It's this simple. Trying to get to the playoffs? Stick with Chad. If not, put Clemens in there so he can get some "game experience" and we lose games and stick a lid on our season. Philip Rivers didnt get much game experience and look at him now. He sucks right? Don't you guys want to watch an extra jets game or maybe even two?

I still think the Jets have a shot at the playoffs, but probably not with another loss. I give Chad one more loss, and then it's Clemens' time. Chad's two decisions cost the Jets the game yesterday, but I'm not ready to give him the hook yet. This team still does have a shot at the playoffs and Chad gives them the best shot to make it.

I was going to post something like this yesterday in response to all the anti-chad stuff but then didn't get to it. It's amazing how people are saying that we would have had more success yesterday with Clemens or Ramsey. Ramsey just plain sucks and Clemens would have gotten destroyed by that defense. You are right in all your points here. Penninton should finish off this season no matter what the result. We decided before the season to go with him and he has been good. He has more TD's than interceptions and has led a less than average team to a 5-5 start.

I agree that it would be stupid to pull chad now, even though he has played poorly lately. By no means do I think chad is our future, but in these last 6 games, he gives us the best chance to win. A rookie will be a rookie.

Yer i think it would be pretty cool to see and of course we all want it even if it is not the best thing for our team.

Im guessing next year we will have a worse record. Thats how it goes most of the time, good rookie season, not so brilliant season then good one. We may not make the playoffs next year and that may discourage fans

Not really... MaNabb will be coming off ACL surger (see Culpepper), Eli is eratic, washington is, well, washington, and the Cowboys should be good.

The Jets will be much improved in 07:beer:  :jets:

Screw 07! Worry about it next year, we are 5-5 with 6 games against the scrubs of the nfl coming up.

shouldn't every jets fan want them to go to the playoffs? isnt that why you root for a team? don't you want them to get a shot to play for the championship, to be the best team they can be?

    This is Not the NBA

Although, I dont agree, I can understand when fans dont want their team to make the NBA playoffs as an 8 seed with a .500 record, lose in four straight and go home. In the NBA, if you dont make the playoffs -- who are at least lottery eligible.

In the NFL, if you make the playoffs as a low seed maybe youll wind up with the 19th pick or so and if you miss the playoffs, with an 8-8 record, youll have the 14th pick maybe? Does that make missing the playoffs worth it?

In the NFL, its a big victory to make the playoffs each year and then go from there.

While many points you make are valid you cant say Clemens would not do a better job or wouldn?t have any impact on the Jets season, thats like saying Chad starting and winning the division in 02 was all luck. This year we have seen Tony Romo coming in with no Snaps and David Gerard doing a good job with the jaguars and Seneca Wallace winning Games, so anything is possible. If we do loose next week or even if Chad struggles during the game He should be sat for a quarter or a couple of plays but something needs to be done if he falters again; any coach in the league would do it.
(this posted weird sorry if it comes out more then once)

The point that people fail to realize is Quarterbacks like Phillip Rivers and Ben Rothilsberger came in for teams that were ready to win. Chad or Clemons don't have the luxury. Chad can not and will not ever be able to win a game with his arm and that team does not have the defense to take them to the promised land. I think alot of people on the board have an illusion that if we make the playoffs that it will not end Ugly against the Colts, Chargers, Pats, Ravens, Jags, Denver or the Bengals. These teams have the players to step it up come playoff time and our defense will not hold them under 20 points. We might not hold them under thirty. Does anyone have faith that Chad can win a shootout in Jan in somebody else's building? We need a Qb that can win a game for us and chad is not that man so we have to find out what Clemens can do. If we loose this week it makes no sense to leave Chad in. People don't even realize we are one game better than the Bills and Dolphins now. Don't be surprised if they go past us in the next few weeks.
