I mean, no reason to run the ball when you've had two different guys bust off runs for a million yards already
I think that's exactly it - clearly the game plan has been for McCown to get the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible, and in that situation you're going to have those little differences (the pass being behind rather than ahead) that can result in big mistakes.
No they aren’t. This guy has been playing safe football all year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Please Forte wherever you are. Stay there and never return. You are a good guy but we don't need your services any longer.
One-yard misalignment on the pass turns a 3-7 point gain into a 7 point shift the other way. McCown is probably used to throwing it out of a longer dropback, a second later, or not after stepping back up into the pocket. People complaining about a pass playcall there must have missed that beautiful bomb to Anderson that came just before it. A short pass intended as an easy completion to pick up a few yards and keep the clock moving is a west coast staple and more of an extension of the run game. Honestly overall the Jets have been playing really well. If we were closer to competitive this season that kind of shit would kill me, but at this point I'm seeing more good than bad from the Jets on this game overall, and care more about seeing the development of Jets players and pieces coming together, generally looking competitive, than the final result.
