Pryor and Gilchrist struggled heavily in making pre-snap decisions. Kansas City game comes to mind where they were struggling to diagnose the play pre-snap which led to Kelce getting open even before running his route. Lets see if the rookies can do any better this year or it might be time for Bowles to go.
I didn't argue with the Pryor pick...but I wanted Clinton Dix...I always did believe they chose the wrong safety in 2014
If the Jets get rid of Pryor who's taking his place? Or did the draftees come with guarantees this year?
Well yes, there were a number of players I would have taken instead of a safety...but I was limiting my reply to the position in that I didn't think Pryor was the best available even at his position when we drafted him.
my guess is: Pryor: FS Adams: SS GIlchrist: Cut Maye: Rotational, and they give him a bit more time to develop into a full time starter. Or Pryor is cut and Gilchrist stays. Net net one of them is getting cut. I don't think a trade is even viable. MAYBE Pryor can command a day 3 pick. But I doubt it.
my guess is.. since todd bowles was actually known for using 3 safeties in AZ is that he uses Pryor as his Deon Buchanon.. convert him into that box LB type safety
yessir. Seems like it would help Pryor out a lot too.. less coverage more hitting.. right up his alley.
Pryor has physical talent but his instincts are terrible. Rex was visibly frustrated with Pryor and you can tell that Bowles has been visibly frustrated with him on numerous occasions as well. Rex & Bowles used him in a variety of different roles and he had the same problems no matter what you did with him: He is slow to read/react and takes horrendous angles. Since those 2 things are vital to the success of any safety, I don't believe there is a situation where Pryor will be a successful every down safety anywhere for any team. I think his future is as a part time box safety that teams use to blitz a lot on 3rd downs, and I would not pick up his option if I were the Jets. If Maye & Adams look good together then feel free to cut him early. Pryor hurts this defense
Pryor would be completely lost as the free safety. Guy takes terrible angles. would be embarrassing seeing him there.
IMO, Pryor is strictly an in the box safety, and quite honestly, he could probably also play as a linebacker too. His time with the Jets thus far can be summed up with one word =inconsistent. Some times he looks nice sometimes he looks like trash. With Adams and Maye on the team now, I can see Bowles use Pryor strictly in the box.
I respect a GM who can cut losses. How many years did we have to deal with Kyle Wilson because he was a 1st round pick? You make a mistake, learn from it, and move the fuck on.
