lol..worried about receivers when it might be another three years before we have a qb that can throw to any of them.
If any of these guys turns out to be a legit kick/punt returner its a win. We've been getting killed on special teams field position for years. Long past time we had a good returner.
Why are people so high on Quincy Egnuwa? The OP called him the #1. I think everyone needs to remember Chan Gaily used Quincy as hybrid player in the middle of the field. I'm not sure our new OC will view him like that.
Yeah. I thought we would have kept him prior to the draft but my guess is they are going elsewhere after the draft.
Quincy was a great #3 behind Marshall and Decker in 2015. He was a pretty solid #2 with Marshall last year. As a #1 he would be exposed as not even close to #1 talent. He still is a good #2 WR I would say. Decker should be the team's #1 WR in 2017. If he is traded then the Jets really are just in 100% rebuild mode and have no interest in winning.
This year is to build our base, our foundation. Winning can take a temporary back seat. Player development will be key. Let the young kids play!!
Bring them all to camp, see what we have and cut the weakest link..... (Most likely Devin Smith and/or Jalin Marshall) Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
With the news of Devin Smith's season ending injury, the likelihood that Decker remains a Jet just increased a good deal.
I think Decker stays put this year especially with Smiths injury, newly drafted Chad Allen was paired with Decker as his NFL comparison. They need a another vet while this young group develops .. 2018 is another story.
Well. I retract my earlier statement. Looks like Smith is gone so that no reason to get rid of him. Still there are like huge numbers of good receivers in camp. Nuts.
Assuming he can get back to 100%, Decker has a lot of value as a mentor to these young WRs. Obviously, Smith is a goner, and I think Patton is unlikely to make the team now. Decker, Enunwa, Anderson, Peake/Marshall, Stewart, and Hansen is a pretty deep group.
I thought we should have kept Brandon Marshall and let Decker go thus off season, but we didn't. It will be a fun TC to watch and truly anybody can earn playing time and a spot on the 53. I think Devin Smith can and Robbie Anderson are very similar players, yet Anderson has shown he can stay healthy and is a bargain in terms of $. Pre-season and ST abilities will lean thus group out. Regardless, this is probably Deckers final year in Green and White.
We would have but the staff gave Marshall the option to leave if he wanted to, and he choose not to stay with a rebuilding team which I can understand.
Not this year, but after next season I think so. This team has a ton of young wideouts with great potential. I think for this year, Decker's presence if helpful for them and the whole offense.
