to begin with, whether it is mcgown or mark brunell, the jets are doing it WRONG! if you want either to " mentor" a qb, then they should be on the coaching staff, not the active roster. i would have no problem with drafting a qb, then having petty, hack, and the new guy battle it out for position. mccown belongs on the coaching staff , or not on the tean at all. leave it to the jets to waste time and money on a bonehead idea. playing nccown as a starter makes no sense whatsoever .
Does not matter. I am not talking about performance. I am not talking about toughness. He is tough and competitive. He just does not look physically able to take the pounding formw hat I have seen. And I have seen QBs getting nailed for decades. QBs have to be physically durable. Pennington was tough minded. Totally not durable. That is my point.
As a huge Petty proponent, this is one of my concerns as well. I didn't like that two of his 3 injuries last year were on plays where it wasn't obvious he got hit. The NE injury in particular. It could just be a run of bad luck. Numerous QB's were injured early in the year and went on to long careers. Time will tell. But again, you don't write a potential starting QB off. Especially if he is healthy and ready to throw in OTA's.
Exactly. That was what i was trying to say. That is the evidence we have now. I happen to think it iwll happen again and again. But I hope I am wrong.
Before the New England game it was rumored that Bryce Petty never played a football game in the rain in his entire life. When Marty Lyons asked him about that, he could not deny that theory... he too, was unsure if he had ever played in the rain. Then the rainy game started. Petty 0-3, 2 sacks and an ugly INT. 0.0 QB rating. before leaving with an injury. We play in NY. In a division with Buffalo and Boston. And you want to say he has the chance to be a viable starter?? Petty has no shot here. MacCagnan drafted a QB that had never taken a snap under center and had never played in rain or snow.... to be the NFL quarterback of the NY Jets. Let that sink in
If that's true, it;s more evidence that Macc isn't a very good GM. I'm not calling for him to be fired - yet - but he should definitely be on the hotseat, and judged heavily on what he does this draft.
And Ryan Fitzpatrick (played in Buffalo with some success) was 8 for 21 for 136 yards and 2 INT's in that game. Fitz had a horrible year, but that was one of his worst performances. I think it was less the weather and more the offense prep and the Pats defensive scheme. I think weather is overblown. It mattered in the 1970's. Today with heated fields, waterproof gloves, and all the commercial breaks, not so much.
For MOST weather conditions, they've reduced its impact, but for severe weather - high, swirling winds, frigid temps, torrential rains, stifling heat - those things DO make a difference. And take a guy who always played in temperate climates and make him play in swirling winds, sub-freezing temps, and maybe some snow, and most guys are going to be affected.
If you think I think the songs are bad you are nuts. I have had enough external validation. The Jets QB situation is a joke troll and you know it. Enough of your trolling. GTFOH and don't ever come back.. Mgmt!
The fact that you feel the need to come to a message board, of a team you are not even a fan of, to try and get validation, not once but twice, after being banned already, makes it quite clear the only ones giving you positive feedback are your family and other tone deaf dipshits that also are of the deluded thinking that they are musicians or singers.
In that same game Brady threw 3 TD's. I know he is Superman, but the weather didn't prevent a successful well planned and executed air attack. Brady grew up in California. Playing in bad weather is a learned skill. I assume he learned in Michigan.
As you pointed out, he played in Michigan and was certainly used to playing in bad weather. Also, he's been playing in NE all these years, so yeah, he's well acclimated I'd say. And again, as you noted, he IS Superman.
