Not sure overpaying for a 270 ILB with an injury history is a prudent move given the state of the franchise.
Signing Hightower would mean the end of THE HIT MAN David Harris in Green and White. That would suck. Especially watching him go up to New England and win a Super Bowl.
Jason La CanforaVerified account @JasonLaCanfora 56s56 seconds ago Jets have the most $$ on table for Hightower but he doesn't seem inclined to take it. Talks w/PIT and NE are ongoing It ain't easy being Green!
Should have done what PIT did. Bet he'll take exactly what Bill is offering and not a penny more. We are being used to drive up the price but he'll go crawling back to Foxborough and they'll have a new cupcakes joke about the Jets.
If true, then why would he even show up in NJ? Oh I know. Because he is a piece of shit just like everyone else in the Patriots Organization. I forgot!
Like I said many times before, dealing with NE and their players is never good business. All this BS rain dance by Hightower won't affect BB's offer by $1. Want to go to the Jets for more?. Have a nice day. Don't let the rebuilding turn stile hit you in the ass on your way out buddy.
I think this is all a bunch of nonsense.........people " leaking info" then others tweeting reactionary opinions that we truly don't know what is true or false.........if he signs great. If not oh well........make cupcakes for somebody else LOL
Exactly and thats why they have a thriving franchise and we are feeding their players cupcakes to try to sign them.
Maybe if Hightower was in his 30s and nobody else wanted him, and we drastically overpaid for him, he'd probably settle for the Jets. Clearly he doesn't want to be here, if he wants to win, obviously its between NE and Pittsburgh, time to move on.
After this typical free agency cluster fuck with hi performers like Hightower - where we either over pay thru the ass or be used to motivate the opposition, maybe the build thru the draft philosophy should really sink in even more. So if we are still on the clock at six and BPA is by far an ILB, do we stay the course or moan and bitch because its a defensive player, and compromise for an O player or some other sexier position. I say if we see Harris's replacement at 6 we strike. That's $55M that can better be invested across a whole bunch of youngsters as we go forward with our rebuild. And as a bonus we can say, fuck the Pats....we are not going to overpay to make the fuckers even better.
Here is an example to anyone who says the Jets should just pay up for a QB. The Jets do pay up. But it isn't enough.
He'd prob mail it in after getting paid like all our players do. It's probably for the best he goes back to NE.
why do people act like we are a complete free agent laughingstock? free agents have been coming here forever. we are rebuilding now, it is understandable that some would not want to come. it's not like this franchise has a bad aura like the rams or niners
