    QB doesn't win games alone.

    Thank you.
I thought that post was ridiculous!!!
Geno was immature no doubt...but judging an interview I saw on The NFL Network,he seems he learned a lot.
I have no problem with the Jets bringing him back.

There's a difference between being an immature brat and raping/sexually assaulting women because you're a franchise QB. Ray Lewis (allegedly) murdered someone. Aaron Hernandez DID murder people. Donte Stallworth drove drunk, hit and killed a pedestrian. Michael Vick tortured and killed dogs. Ray Rice beat his wife. Adrian Peterson beat his kid. Brett Favre has sexually harassed plenty of women. Peyton Manning has sexually assaulted athletic trainers.

But go on and tell me how not paying a teammate back a few hundred dollars is worse than any of that.

A direct answer to the OPs question.
    Yes.
We are in full rebuild mode. It makes absolutely no sense to trade for a QB as we need the draft picks to build the roster. A free agent QB makes very little sense as they will cost too much and won't achieve much with the current roster. Geno, is likely a cheap veteran option who can complete for the starting job .
It just makes sense to bring him back on a short contract.

The sad reality is that they were much more successful players than Geno Smith so most people give them a pass. It happens at the high school and college levels all the time, then everyone is shocked when an NFL player, who was never held accountable for their actions gets in trouble.

I'm a Democrat. Care to revise your statement? BTW nice to know your football knowledge is still painfully lacking. You're the Donald Trump of Jets fans.

I think Mainjet has a right to be angry...Idzik imposed Geno on the fans and he ended up ranked 32nd in the League (ridiculous)....there is ALOT of frustration with Coaches Players and Owners with the org known as the NY Jets

Ive been a fan since 1969, born and raised in NYC and feeling powerless for 50 years is something MOST posters here just don't get

let me ask you this ....who are the real POSs here??? Its the FANS ....cause that's how we have been treated!!!!

Lets face it.....The product Woody and Waldo have fielded for the NY market has been a laughing stock of the NFL

And where are we now ??? A big boobie for a Coach with the Sunshine boy KC who enjoys kicking field goals and screwing up time outs and a rookie GM who has been a BIG disappointment (Mac is grading out at C minus for me right now)

I am pretty sure Mainjet would be effusive with praise rather than rancor if the players and management DESERVED it

Uh...yea they do. All the time. QB's get in teammates/coaches faces all the time, which sometimes lead to altercations if the teammate/coach isn't receptive.

Geno was punched in the face over an alleged debt.

He's no leader and shouldn't be back, but to say leaders never get into altercations is BS.

Geno was given a chance, in fact, multiple chances, that many players would've killed for. Was he given pro-bowl receivers and Oline play? No, he was not. Should he have been thrown into the fray when he was? Also no. That's on the braintrust of the Jets at the time and they should've learned not to make the same mistake they made with Sanchez. Geno was a second round pick, so is it unfair for fans to expect him to make what he had to work with better and elevate their games? No, not unfair in any way. He was given a chance and he blew it. Geno clearly wasn't capable of leading and elevating anybody. Couple that with maturity issues and lack of professionalism in regards to interacting with teammates and the media and his undoing is completely and 100% is his own doing.

Maybe a change of scenery will help, who knows. But I suspect the same issues will appear and he will be on to another team. I don't believe that he will even go the journeyman route, like Sanchez has, because his attitude will be a turnoff and his lackluster play will deem him an unnecessary headache.

THANK YOU. Many people think I am way too hard on the team? I really don't know about that, but what I do know is that if things started to build in the right direction? I would be the first one to praise and I truly hope that day comes very soon. I have been a fan of this team since the 70's and my hope is that I will be able to see this team win a championship before I die. A guy like Geno Smith we will NEVER win anything with. That much I am certain of. That kid has got the IQ of a turnip. He is very much a locker room cancer.

Now maybe Geno has not perpetrated any truly violent crimes, but he is very much so a scumbag in his own right. I want no part of him at all and I truly a guy like that gives the team a bad name. It makes the Jets a punch line. I want the guy gone once and for all and I believe we could not possibly do any worse by having most anyone QB the team over him...........

    So stupid...
Jets fans had nothing to do with giving anyone of those creeps a pass. And Geno does NOT get a pass from this fan. He's a fucking POS and the worst QB a professional football team could ever make the mistake of having...

NO. I do not care to revise my statement one iota. Thank you for telling me I must be the Trump of Jets fans. The fact is, Trump would most certainly bring this team back to prominence by doing very logical things. Bringing a POS like Geno back would NEVER be one of them. That is an obvious democrat move, just like pretending you are leading when you're behind?

    It could be worse.

Sparano could still be our OC.

    Fuck you
I was replying to Greenday4537's post and what I said was the truth. It's a sad reality that athletes get away with criminal behavior at all levels.
Never said anything about Jet fans, however , I will say that Jet fans would be just as willing to give a player a pass if we were winning and that player was a key to that success.
There are still fans here who want Sheldon to stay, others who think he is worth a first round pick. All he did was endanger a child's life speeding, running from the cops while high. He is a good player so jet fans give him a pass. If Geno stayed healthy last year, played well and led the Jets to the playoffs, you would be first in line lobbying for his return.

I don't think he's angry because of the Jets. I think he's just angry in general.

That's very true. If Geno had played well EVER, I would be lobbying to keep him. I would not like him as a person at all and regardless of the situation that will never change. But operative phrase here is "played well". The fact is, he's never played well. Not a lick of consistency. Now, throw in all the other BS and what you can readily tell is that you have that has a brain the size of a pea. He does NOT learn a damn thing about leadership, avoiding making the same mistakes, field or pocket awareness. He's been rated as the very worst QB in the league any time he is starting. On top of that, he's been given multiple chances to change his act and yet he never does.

I'm sorry, but it's time to move from this guy once and for all. I think he's a brainless idiot if we are telling the truth.

And thank you for the Fuck You. I wasn't insulting you, merely defending my stance. Geno is a creep and you do not have to be a murderer or a rapist to be a creep........

You know I really don't know why people get that impression of me? I don't think I am an angry guy, just a realist. The product right now for Jets fans is beyond BAD and that really hurts. Perhaps, the complaining on the part of the fans will resonate with Woody and maybe, just maybe, he'll make a decent hiring decision? For me, that's what it is all about.

Look, there's many teams that are consistently making the playoffs. Consistently in the conversation for best team in the conference. WHEN was a the last time the Jets were ever mentioned in that conversation? Near as I can tell, that was for a short while in 2009 and 2010. In other words, it's been a long time. Honestly, I'd be happy just to get to the playoffs for crying out loud. When you can't even make the playoffs that definitely says something about the front office?

So I don't believe that makes me an angry guy? Like Ted Cruz said a few weeks ago, "facts are stubborn things". The fact is, this team is in a world of hurt. The product is terrible and they don't attract fans when you settle for a product like this. So it may sound angry, but it is based in fact and that's a problem.
